UPNVJ Public Relations – The Emergency Response Community Service Team (PKM) of the "Veteran" National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) distributed medical equipment donations to the Lhokberingin Community Health Center in Aceh. The aid was received directly by the Head of the Community Health Center, Syamsul Bahri, on the same day. The donation aims to support the community health center's operations, which were disrupted by the massive flooding, in which all medical equipment was swept away, making it difficult to treat victims.
Syamsul Bahri, who has only been in office for two months, expressed his gratitude for UPNVJ's assistance. He explained that without medical equipment like blood pressure monitors, the community health center could only perform basic patient assessments. "All the medical equipment was swept away with the grief of this flood," he said in an interview with the UPNVJ public relations team. The sudden disaster devastated him as the leader of a public health facility.
Following the floods, community health centers (Puskesmas) faced a surge in cases of illnesses such as acute respiratory infections (ARI), worms, diarrhea, and skin diseases. Syamsul added that medical teams were still struggling to treat the large number of patients. In addition to medical equipment, other assistance, such as heavy equipment to clear the accumulated trash, was needed. "Thank you, UPNVJ, this assistance means a lot to us," he said.
UPNVJ has been active in disaster response programs through Community Service Programs (PKM), including distributing aid to affected areas. This initiative aligns with the university's commitment to building community resilience.
This assistance is part of the university's policy to support post-disaster recovery. UPNVJ continues to encourage students and faculty to engage in community service, particularly in vulnerable areas like Aceh. This achievement strengthens UPNVJ's role as a national defense campus, focusing on community welfare.
