HumasUPNVJ - Chancellor of the Jakarta Veterans National Development University (UPNVJ) Dr. Erna Hernawati, Ak, CPMA, CA, CGOP decided to temporarily stop all Student Regiment activities for an unspecified time limit, following a disciplinary violation following a raid activity without the permission of the university leadership.

"Menwa students have been proven to have violated Article 74 letter i of UPN Veteran Jakarta Rector Regulation Number 10 of 2020 concerning Student Affairs," said Erna via a written message delivered in Jakarta, Sunday (5/12/2021).

The regulation reads "carrying out curricular and co-curricular activities after 21.00 WIB and extracurricular activities after 17.00 WIB, without written permission from the authorized official".

In addition to temporarily stopping all Menwa activities, the Chancellor also imposed sanctions on the organization's management in the form of an active prohibition as an ormawa administrator and making a statement not to commit similar violations and/or other violations.

"The Menwa management was dismissed and the organization will be further evaluated and developed. The forms of evaluation and coaching will be determined later," he explained.

As stated in the statement letter prepared, if Menwa officials are proven to have committed similar violations and other violations, they will be subject to sanctions as stipulated in Article 86 Paragraph (2) of the Chancellor's Regulation on Student Affairs.

The sanctions listed in the Article are revocation of the right to participate in all academic activities for one semester or more, cancellation of exams, prohibition of being active as an ormawa administrator, and termination of submission of grades/diploma transcripts for one semester or more for final semester students.

Previously, Menwa carried out activities without the permission of the Chancellor through the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation. Menwa UPNVJ took part in the writing activities on 24-26 September 2021.

In this activity where the permit was not obtained, a member of the UPNVJ Menwa named Fauziyah Nabilah Luthfi died. There were no signs of violence, so it is suspected that Fauziyah died from exhaustion. The family rejects Fauziyah's body being autopsied and accepts the incident and will not take legal action.

The UPNVJ Menwa participated in a riot in the Sukaraja area, Bogor Regency, West Java, which was organized by the Menwa Unit of another university. In the implementing structure, the university's Chancellor is listed as the person in charge of the activity.

Apart from not allowing Menwa to participate in these activities, the UPNVJ leadership deplored the weak risk management in these activities. From the results of the investigation, the event organizers did not appear to be ready to handle the worst contingencies.
