Pekanlit 2024: Entering the Fourth Day, UPNVJ Holds Writing Workshop and Book Review

Public Relations of UPNVJ – The fourth day of the 2024 Research and Community Service Week (Pekanlit) was opened by Faizi, Ph.D, as Head of the Publication Center and lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UPN Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) by providing an activity report that focused on the importance of writing and publishing books for lecturers.

He said that today's event will discuss in detail the process of writing and selecting books, as well as provide guidance on book reviews to encourage other lecturers to have the same ambition in publishing books, especially through Rajawali Press.

Faizi emphasized that the UPNVJ Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) has a strong commitment to support all lecturers in their efforts to publish their works. Teaching materials prepared by lecturers are expected to be the basis for writing books, so that they can provide significant contributions in the field of education.

Collaboration with Rajawali Press and the Latest Regulations from the National Library

Faizi also revealed that UPNVJ has established a strategic partnership with Rajawali Press through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), where most of the book grants will be allocated to be published by the publisher. This is in line with the latest regulations from the National Library (Perpusnas) which regulate the types of books that are entitled to be published and obtain ISBNs, namely textbooks, reference books, monographs, and other types of books such as comics.

Criteria and Conditions for Book Grant Recipients

To support the publishing process, Faizi explained several criteria and provisions for lecturers who want to get book grants. The criteria include:

  1. Permanent lecturers at UPNVJ who have received approval from the dean and related study program.
  2. Have a manuscript that is ready to be published, not just a draft, and has never been published.
  3. Manuscripts must be in accordance with the scientific knowledge possessed or the courses taught by the lecturer.
  4. Books can be written together with other lecturers, both from within UPNVJ and from outside.
  5. It can be written as a result of cooperation or collaboration, both national and international.
  6. The manuscript has not been submitted to any previous book grant.
  7. The proposed manuscript is not a thesis, dissertation, or dissertation.
  8. Each lecturer is allowed to submit several manuscript proposals, but the grant will only be awarded for one work.

With these clear criteria and provisions, Faizi hopes that lecturers can be more motivated to actively write and publish books. This will not only improve their academic quality and productivity, but also provide real contributions to the development of science and education in Indonesia.

This event is expected to provide inspiration and encouragement for UPNVJ lecturers to continue working and disseminating knowledge through publishing books that are useful for the wider community.
