UPNVJ Public Relations – The Rector of the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ), Prof. Anter Venus, has restarted the Tour de Faculty program as a strategic dialogue forum between university and faculty leaders. On Friday, May 29, 2026, the event took place in the UPNVJ Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) Meeting Room, Depok, with the main agenda being monitoring and evaluating faculty development. This forum was attended by university leaders, faculty leaders, heads of institutions, and related elements to discuss the achievements, challenges, and direction of FIKES development. Through this activity, the rectorate aims to ensure that each faculty program is aligned with the university's targets.
The activity was led directly by Prof. Venus accompanied by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan Sitorus, ST, MT, and the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Sp.KJ., MH. The presence of university leaders is part of an effort to strengthen direct communication with the faculty, especially in mapping actual problems that need to be addressed immediately together.
The event began with a presentation by the Dean of FIKES, Dr. Sri Yani, SST.FT., Ftr., M.Si. In her presentation, Dr. Sri Yani explained the direction of FIKES transformation through the theme "Transforming to Achieve Excellence". The presentation included cascading Performance Agreements and Key Performance Indicators (PK-IKU) to all faculty levels, progress on PK-IKU achievement, target achievement strategies, national and international publications, journal developments within the FIKES environment, lecturer SINTA scores, lecturer development plans, and faculty asset optimization.
Dr. Sri also emphasized the importance of strengthening internal governance so that faculty targets are not limited to the leadership level, but are understood and implemented down to the vice dean, department head, department secretary, study program coordinator, laboratory head, lecturers, and education staff. This work pattern is crucial for ensuring each unit makes a measurable contribution to the faculty's performance.
In his response, the UPNVJ Chancellor expressed his appreciation for FIKES's achievements, which he considered to demonstrate a consistent trend of improving performance. He expressed his hope that the FIKES family would remain united, as there are still many strategic tasks to be completed together.
"The Tour de Faculty focuses primarily on monitoring and evaluating faculty development. Several areas have exceeded expectations, while strategies will be developed for areas that have not been met so the rectorate can help address these issues," said Prof. Anter Venus.
The Rector emphasized that the seven priority aspects discussed in the forum were the primary focus, but that did not mean that other aspects were being neglected. He stated that the university continues to prioritize the needs of its faculty, including in the areas of administration, services, student affairs, research, facilities and infrastructure, and human resource capacity building.
Regarding student affairs, Prof. Venus explained that the university has allocated an adequate budget to address various student needs. She noted that several previously concerning issues, such as Wi-Fi, parking, the cafeteria, and other supporting facilities, have been gradually addressed according to the university's capabilities and priorities.
Research is also a key focus. The Rector stated that an evaluation will be conducted in conjunction with the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) to develop a strategy for improving research performance. This step is necessary to ensure that lecturer productivity, publications, and academic contributions from FIKES increasingly impact the university's achievements.
Prof. Venus assessed that UPNVJ's challenges are increasing because the university doesn't want to be just another campus. In this context, FIKES is considered to be on the right track. One indicator of this is the achievement of study program accreditation. Of the nine study programs at FIKES, five have achieved excellent accreditation. This number has exceeded 50 percent and is above the university's target of 40 percent.
"I see FIKES is on the right track. Of the nine study programs, five have excelled. This has exceeded the university's target," said Prof. Venus.
The Rector also highlighted the importance of cascading performance targets more robustly down to the department level. He requested that department heads help ensure a clear and measurable direction for lecturer development. He stated that the duties of department heads must be more concrete, particularly in supporting the improvement of lecturers' competency, productivity, and contribution to the reputation of the faculty and university.
In addition to accreditation and lecturer development, Prof. Venus emphasized the target of improving UPNVJ's SINTA ranking. Currently, UPNVJ is ranked 89th and aims to reach above 50th. This target, she said, must be a collaborative effort shared proportionally across each faculty, including FIKES.
"We have a target of increasing the SINTA level because it represents lecturer productivity. We share this burden proportionally to improve the university's SINTA ranking," he said.
Regarding facilities and infrastructure, the Rector stated that UPNVJ is ready to undertake development to support academic development and faculty services. One of the key plans presented at the forum was the development of the Future Campus in 2026, including the construction of the Integrated Health Sciences and Health Sciences Laboratory Building through the State Sharia Securities (SBSN) project.
The integrated laboratory building, planned to have eight floors, will serve as a strategic facility to strengthen education, research, and laboratory services at FIKES. This facility is expected to promote improved practice-based learning, strengthen health research, and develop student competencies.
Through this Tour de Faculty, UPNVJ affirmed its commitment to building responsive, collaborative, and data-driven university governance. For the UPNVJ Chancellor, the FIKES achievement is a crucial asset in strengthening the reputation of the National Defense Campus, while also ensuring that faculty development aligns with the university's goal of becoming a leading, impactful institution, and not settling for mediocre results.
