UPNVJ Public Relations — Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) has prepared approximately 400 kilograms of humanitarian aid for earthquake-affected communities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Thirteen boxes of aid, consisting of medical equipment, hygiene supplies, food, and clothing, are scheduled to be dispatched on Monday (August 24, 2026) via Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta. The aid distribution is being coordinated with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and relevant parties as part of UPNVJ's response to the needs of communities in the affected areas.
The Field Coordinator of UPNVJ Disaster Care, M. Ikhsan Amar, M.Kes., stated that several logistics delivery options are being coordinated. One of them is through collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Indonesian Air Force using a Hercules aircraft from Halim Perdanakusuma.
"The plan is to send the items on Monday via Halim. UPN Veteran Jakarta is coordinating with the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB). There are several options for shipping these items, one of which is via the Air Force at Halim Perdanakusuma using a Hercules aircraft," Ikhsan said.
UPNVJ is also considering a delivery scheme that involves personnel to escort aid to affected areas. A similar strategy was previously implemented during UPNVJ's humanitarian mission to Aceh.
According to Ikhsan, medical equipment is a top priority in the first phase of aid. The supplies prepared include masks and blood pressure monitors to support the healthcare needs of the affected community.
"Our main focus is medical equipment, including masks and blood pressure monitors. NTT currently needs support with medical equipment," he said.
In addition to medical supplies, UPNVJ has prepared bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK) supplies, including soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other hygiene supplies. Food aid in the form of biscuits has also been provided, along with new clothing and underwear for women and men.
Ikhsan explained that all the aid was packed in 15 boxes with an estimated weight of around 400 kilograms.
"If you count them all, there are 15 boxes. The total weight is approximately 400 kilograms, including medical equipment and other necessities," he said.
This type of assistance was chosen to support the basic needs of the community during the emergency response period, especially in the aspects of health, personal hygiene, practical food, and clothing.
This logistical delivery is the initial phase of UPNVJ's humanitarian response. Ikhsan said the university is also considering a follow-up phase, which could involve sending a team directly to the disaster area.
"The next step is likely to involve sending a team directly to the disaster site to assist our brothers and sisters in East Nusa Tenggara," Ikhsan said.
The team's deployment plan will be adjusted based on the evolving situation on the ground, the needs of affected communities, access to disaster sites, and coordination with the government and relevant agencies. This step is necessary to ensure that UPNVJ's support is targeted and tailored to the actual needs in the affected areas.
This humanitarian action also reflects the implementation of the National Defense values that are UPNVJ's identity. Concern for communities facing disasters is demonstrated through solidarity, dedication, and the utilization of university resources to assist in emergency response and recovery.
