Public Relations of UPNVJ – The National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) strengthened the character development of its academic community through the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday 1448 H/2026 M which was held on Monday (28/9/2026) at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, 4th Floor, UPNVJ. Carrying the theme “Emulating the Morals of the Prophet Muhammad SAW in Building a Religious, Integrity-Based, and Noble Generation of National Defenders”, this activity became a moment of reflection to implement the exemplary values of the Prophet Muhammad SAW in academic and social life.

The Prophet's Birthday commemoration featured Prof. Dr. KH Suwendi, M.Ag., a professor at UIN Jakarta, as the speaker. The event was attended by UPNVJ academics, including lecturers, education staff, and students, as part of the university's efforts to develop individuals with character aligned with the values of national defense.

The series of activities began with participant registration, a recitation of the Quran, the singing of Indonesia Raya, and the National Defense March and the UPN Veteran March. The event continued with a report from the Committee Chair/Chair of the Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM), remarks from the Rector of UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, a recitation of prayers and a celebration of the Prophet's birthday, and a religious lecture.

In his sermon, Prof. Dr. KH Suwendi, M.Ag., said that the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday is not just a ceremonial activity, but an opportunity to revive the exemplary values of the Prophet Muhammad in everyday life.
"Emulating the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) means making morality a part of our lives. Honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, compassion, and respect for others are values that must continue to be instilled, especially in the younger generation," said Prof. Suwendi.

He explained that the development of science and technology must be accompanied by character building. He believes that the younger generation needs more than just intellectual intelligence; they also need integrity and noble morals as a foundation for facing the challenges of the times.

"A strong generation is not only one with knowledge and academic ability, but also one with integrity and noble morals. These values are essential capital for building a life in society, the nation, and the state," he added.

Prof. Suwendi also linked the exemplary values of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the spirit of national defense in higher education. He explained that national defense can be realized through concrete actions, such as sincerity in learning and working, maintaining honesty, respecting diversity, and making positive contributions to society.

In line with the activity's theme, UPNVJ places character building as a key part of the university's vision of producing outstanding, professional graduates who care about the nation. Religious values, integrity, and social responsibility are elements continuously reinforced in academic life on campus.

The event then continued with an interactive dialogue and question-and-answer session between the speakers and the participants. This session provided the academic community with a platform to delve deeper into the relevance of the Prophet Muhammad's moral values in addressing the dynamics of today's young generation.
