UPNVJ Public Relations — Students from the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ) Jakarta provided education on social media ethics and bullying prevention to students at SMPN Satu Atap 01 Pulau Pari, Seribu Islands, on Wednesday (10/21/2026). The activity, initiated by the UPNVJ Student Executive Board (BEM), involved students in grades VII, VIII, and IX through interactive learning and discussions. The program aims to improve digital literacy while raising students' awareness of the importance of creating a safe and bullying-free school environment.
The activity, which took place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), was part of the UPNVJ Student Executive Board's community service program on Pari Island. Students provided an understanding of the wise use of social media, including maintaining communication ethics, respecting others' privacy, and filtering information before sharing it online.
In addition to digital literacy, UPNVJ students addressed the issue of bullying, which can occur through face-to-face interactions and social media. This material emphasized the importance of recognizing bullying behavior, understanding its impact on victims' social and psychological well-being, and fostering mutual respect in everyday life.
This education is delivered through a participatory approach that allows students to be directly involved in the learning process. Through interactive discussions, students are encouraged to express their opinions and discuss various situations related to social media use and peer relationships in the school environment.
This approach is expected to help students understand that behavior in digital spaces has real consequences. Derogatory comments, unauthorized sharing of personal information, and even shaming others on social media are all forms of behavior that should be avoided to foster healthy and responsible interactions.
In discussions about bullying prevention, students are also encouraged to cultivate empathy, respect differences, and take a stand when they encounter actions that harm others. This understanding is part of the effort to build an inclusive school culture and support the well-being of all students.
The program's implementation at SMPN Satu Atap 01 Pulau Pari also demonstrates students' role as agents of social change through educational activities outside the campus environment. The presence of UPNVJ students is expected to expand access to digital literacy and character education for students in the Seribu Islands region.
Through this activity, the UPNVJ Student Executive Board (BEM) strives to integrate character education, digital literacy, and social awareness into community service. The program also aligns with the National Defense spirit that is UPNVJ's identity, particularly instilling the values of responsibility, caring, and respect for others from school age.
