UPNVJ Public Relations – The Chairperson of the Rector Election Committee of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) for the 2026–2030 Period, Silvia Anggraeni, ST, M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized that the drawing of the candidate rector's ballot numbers is part of an important administrative procedure to maintain transparency in the UPNVJ Rector Election series.
This was conveyed by Silvia during the Drawing of Candidate Numbers for the UPNVJ Chancellor for the 2026–2030 Period, which was held in a hybrid manner in the Nusantara 1 Meeting Room, Tuesday (6/10/2026).
"This serial number is actually part of an administrative procedure to maintain transparency," said Silvia.
According to him, the implementation of the lottery marks that the UPNVJ Chancellor Election process has now entered the selection stage after previously going through the selection and screening stages.
Silvia explained that during the selection stage, six potential rector candidates were selected. The process then continued with a closed session of the UPNVJ Senate on July 15, 2026, which resulted in four potential candidates advancing to the selection stage.
Before entering this stage, the Chancellor Election Committee will draw the ballot numbers for the four prospective candidates on July 21, 2026. These ballot numbers will then be used in the presentation of the prospective rector's vision, mission, and work program on July 30, 2026.
On the same day, the UPNVJ Senate held a second closed session which narrowed down the four potential candidates to three rector candidates, namely Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, SE, M.Sc., MH, Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, SH, M.Ag., and Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MAComm.
"After the selection and screening phase, we have now reached the rector election stage. Before the third closed Senate session, the three rector candidates must have their ballot numbers. Therefore, today we are holding the drawing for the ballot numbers for the UPNVJ Rector candidates for the 2026–2030 period," explained Silvia.
He explained that the selection of rector candidates can be done through two mechanisms: based on a University Senate meeting or through a drawing facilitated by the Rector Election Committee. In this UPNVJ rector election process, the mechanism used is a drawing by the committee.
The drawing was conducted online, taking into account the fact that not all of the prospective rectors reside in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
According to Silvia, a similar mechanism has been used in the rector selection process at other universities. However, UPNVJ adapts its implementation to the candidate's circumstances and the process's needs to ensure an open, effective, and transparent process.
The drawing results determined Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MAComm. as candidate number 1 for rector, Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, SE, M.Si., MH as candidate number 2, and Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, SH, M.Ag. as candidate number 3.
After the draw, Silvia expressed her gratitude for the smooth running of the process.
"Thank God, the drawing of the candidate numbers for the UPNVJ Rector for the 2026–2030 term was held today, and it went smoothly. May it bring goodness to everyone," he said.
He added that the results of the draw will be used in the next series of stages towards the appointment of the UPNVJ Chancellor for the 2026–2030 period.
"Hopefully, these results will be beneficial for the next phase, namely the rector candidate interviews and the third closed session of the UPNVJ Senate, which will determine who will be the rector-elect for the 2026–2030 period," Silvia concluded.
With the determination of the serial numbers of the three candidates, the series of UPNVJ Chancellor Elections for the 2026–2030 Period continues to the next stage according to the established mechanism.
