Addressing the Situation at UPNVJ, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Emphasizes the Unity and Dignity of the Institution

UPNVJ Public Relations – The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Veteran National Development University Jakarta (FK UPNVJ), Taufiq Fredrik Pasiak, called for strengthening internal solidarity and a constructive institutional stance in addressing the ongoing dynamics at UPNVJ. The call was delivered in a written statement to three members of the UPNVJ Academic Senate representing the Faculty of Medicine, Friday (11/6/2026). He emphasized the importance of maintaining unity, respecting the authority of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, and ensuring that every institutional step remains based on law and academic ethics.

The statement was addressed to Dr. dr. Abdul Kholib, MH, Dr. Lisa Safira, Sp.A(K)., and Dr. Riezki Valentina Astari, Sp.S., as members of the UPNVJ Academic Senate representing the Faculty of Medicine. The three were asked to prioritize the interests of the institution in carrying out institutional responsibilities, especially when the university faces situations that require coordination and a shared attitude.

In his statement, Taufiq emphasized that strengthening the institution's bargaining position must begin with internal consolidation. He stated that differences in views and interests must not disrupt the unity of the academic community or weaken the institution.

"Without intending to oppose or contest the authority of the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, I think it's time for us to build a stronger, more dignified, and more respectable institutional bargaining position," said Taufiq.

He believes the current situation facing UPNVJ requires an approach that goes beyond administrative communication. It requires more measured, collective action, accompanied by the courage to take a stand while upholding legal provisions and the principles of higher education governance.

"We need more measured, solid, intelligent, and bold steps, but still within the law and academic ethics," he stressed.

While encouraging the strengthening of institutional positions, Taufiq emphasized that this stance was not a rejection of government authority. Rather, he emphasized respect for the Minister's authority as a principle that must go hand in hand with the university's responsibility to maintain the continuity of higher education.

"We respect the Minister's authority. At the same time, we also have a moral and institutional responsibility to uphold the dignity, certainty of governance, and future of UPN Veteran Jakarta," he said.

He further emphasized that the loyalty of Academic Senate members and the academic community must be based on the long-term interests of the university. This principle is considered crucial for maintaining objectivity in decision-making and preventing individual or group interests from influencing the direction of institutional policy.

"Our primary loyalty and dedication is to the institution, not to individuals, groups, or short-term interests," he said.

Taufiq also expressed his hope that members of the Academic Senate representing the Faculty of Medicine would foster closer internal communication and formulate constructive joint steps. He emphasized that efforts to strengthen the institution's position were not aimed at creating conflict, but rather at championing procedural certainty and fairness.

"We are not seeking conflict. We are fighting for certainty, procedural justice, and the sustainability of the institutions we love," he said.

At the end of his statement, Taufiq asked all members of the UPNVJ Academic Senate representing the Faculty of Medicine to make the principles of solidarity, rationality, and institutional dignity the basis for a shared attitude.

"We must remain united, remain rational, and remain dignified," he concluded.

The appeal affirms the leadership of the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine, which prioritizes internal unity, respect for government authority, and the resolution of institutional issues through legitimate mechanisms. Within the context of university governance, this approach is expected to support academic stability and the sustainability of educational services for students and the community.
