HumasUPNVJ - UPN Veteran Jakarta held an Academic Writing Workshop with the theme " Useful Technology Application in Research Paper Writing " which presented Ardian W. Setiawan, SS, M.Ed., Ed.D. as a guest speaker and moderated by Puri Bestari Mardani, M.Sc., M.Hum, as a lecturer at FISIP UPNVJ. This activity was carried out online through a Zoom Meeting which was attended by 50 participants from lecturer representatives from each faculty. (23/10)
Dr. Antar Venus, MA, Comm Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in his remarks, he hoped that with an event like this, UPNVJ lecturers would no longer hesitate to try to write scientific papers in English by utilizing existing technological sophistication. Hopefully the scientific work of UPNVJ lecturers will be accepted by the global scientific community.
Ardian Setiawan in his presentation explained many things, starting with discussing international experts to providing information regarding how to overcome problems in writing, "Difficulties in scientific writing are often caused by a lack of reading reliable sources. The way to overcome problems in writing is to read a lot, because good readers are also good writers. there are several ways to overcome problems in research including, Critical Reading, Rhetorical Reading, Writing while translating using Google Docs , Summarizing articles quickly, Using digital dictionaries, Organizing and storing important quotes, Managing and finding references to make it easier to fill in the Bibliography, Making graphs/ illustration and combine data collection”, he explained
The purpose of this activity was held to obtain information about application programs that are useful for writing scientific papers. Participants will practice directly using connected applications, and can educate/provide more insight into application programs which will greatly assist writing scientific papers, especially those in English.
With this activity, it is hoped that the lecturers who are present at the meeting will have additional information related to applications that can assist the process of writing scientific papers in English so that lecturers can be productive in writing international journals and transmit this knowledge to students.
