UPNVJ Support for Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja as National Hero

UPNVJ Public Relations - November 11, 2021, As a Belanegara campus, UPN Veteran Jakarta really supports and appreciates all forms of struggle to defend and advance the nation. On the basis of this enthusiasm UPNVJ then conveyed its full support for the proposal of the West Java Provincial government which proposed Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja to become a national hero.

Regarding this support, the Chancellor of UPNVJ, Dr. Erna Hernawati said that all UPNVJ academics supported the proposal to award this national hero title, "We convey this support by considering the magnitude of his services in realizing the aspirations of the nation of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia to become an archipelagic nation," she concluded.

"He has given an extraordinary dedication in a tangible form when fighting for recognition from the international community for the Djuanda Declaration," he added.

On the same occasion, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Anter Venus, as the coordinator of the drafting team supporting Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumatmadja as a national hero, said that Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmaja was never tired of fighting for Indonesia's maritime boundaries, "The struggle was tireless, so that Indonesia succeeded in getting recognition from the international community for the maritime boundaries declared in the Djuanda declaration," he said

In addition, Venus added that Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmaja also contributed to the development of the concept of Archipelagic Insight, "Through the idea of the concept of Archipelagic Insight, he raised the awareness of all Indonesian people, especially in terms of understanding Indonesia as an archipelagic country which has territory in the form of land (islands) and also sea areas," he said.

UPNVJ hopes that the support provided can strengthen the proposals submitted by the Provincial Government of West Java and hope that these proposals can be granted by the government of the Republic of Indonesia.
