This activity took place solemnly in the front yard of the Faculty of Medicine, Wahidin Sudiro Husodo Building and was attended by university leaders, lecturers, education staff, and students.
Carrying the theme "Empowered women, protected children, towards Golden Indonesia 2045," this ceremony is a moment of reflection on Raden Ajeng Kartini's struggle in fighting for women's rights in Indonesia, especially in the field of education.
UPNVJ Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anter Venus in his speech conveyed the importance of continuing the spirit of Kartini in the modern era. He emphasized that today's women have a strategic role in building the nation through various sectors, both academic, professional, and social.
"We must continue to ignite the spirit of Kartini, not only for women, but also for the entire UPNVJ academic community to continue to uphold the values of equality, justice, and shared progress," said Venus.
"Let us continue to live the spirit of Kartini. By studying, working, creating, and taking part in the progress of the nation. Let us together open more spaces for participation, reject all forms of discrimination, and ensure that every Indonesian woman can grow and be empowered, wherever she comes from," she continued reading the mandate of the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia.
In an atmosphere full of national spirit, the ceremony participants were seen wearing traditional clothing and kebaya as a form of respect for Indonesia's cultural heritage and Kartini's struggle.
The series of Kartini Day commemorations at UPNVJ continued with seminars, essay writing competitions, and student work exhibitions on the theme of women's empowerment which will last until the weekend.
