SMMPTN-West 2025 Officially Launched: 28 PTNs Ready to Screen Prospective New Students

The Consortium of the West Region State University Cooperation Agency (BKS-PTN Barat) officially launched the 2025 West Region State University Independent Entrance Selection (SMMPTN-West 2025) through a soft launch held online on Monday, April 21, 2025.

A total of 28 leading state universities (PTN) in the regions of Sumatra, Kalimantan, and West Java will join in this selection.

SMMPTN-West has been implemented since 2017 and is the only independent selection model based on a consortium between PTNs that prioritizes the principles of fairness, professionalism, transparency, efficiency, and freedom from conflicts of interest.
The Head of BKS-PTN Barat Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, IPU (Rector of Syiah Kuala University) and the Head of SMMPTN-West 2025 Prof. Dr. Ibrahim (Rector of Bangka Belitung University) said that this activity is a golden opportunity for prospective students who have not passed through the SNBP and SNBT routes, as well as those who do not yet have an SNPMB account.

"This selection is designed with a Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) system consisting of Scholastic Potential Test, Indonesian Language Literacy, English Language Literacy, and Mathematical Reasoning, similar to the national SNBT," said Prof. Ibrahim.

This year, SMMPTN-West opened 993 study programs with a total acceptance quota reaching 17,909 new students from 28 participating PTNs. Selection participants are free to choose two study programs from any PTN that are members, without having to take the exam at the location of the PTN of their choice.

Registration will be open from May 4 to June 12, 2025 through the official page pendaftaran.smmptnbarat.id. The registration fee is IDR 375,000 and can be paid through banking partners such as Bank Mandiri, BNI, BTN, BSI, or through the Tokopedia digital platform.
