UPNVJ Public Relations — Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) officially released humanitarian aid for earthquake-affected communities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Monday (August 24, 2026). UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm. released the aid collected by the UPNVJ family to be dispatched and distributed to the affected communities. A total of 71 types of goods in seven categories of needs were prepared, ranging from medical equipment, medicines, food, hygiene supplies, clothing, to children's educational needs.

The release marked the next step in UPNVJ's Disaster Relief program, following the university's collection and preparation of supplies based on the needs of the affected communities. The aid is the result of the compassion of the academic community, donors, committee members, and various parties involved in UPNVJ's humanitarian efforts.

UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., emphasized that the aid sent was not merely material. The action was a form of solidarity and an implementation of the National Defense values that are UPNVJ's identity.

"This aid is not just a collection of goods, but a manifestation of solidarity, mutual cooperation, and the concrete implementation of the values of National Defense. When our brothers and sisters face difficulties, our concern and presence are part of our responsibility as fellow citizens," said Venus.

Medical Equipment and Medicines Are a Key Part of Aid

The aid distributed by UPNVJ covers various healthcare needs. The medical equipment category includes 10 boxes of masks, latex gloves of various sizes, swabs, sterile gauze, povidone iodine, wound dressings, stethoscopes, five blood pressure monitors, five headlamps, and 10 penlights.

UPNVJ also supplies various medicines and pharmaceutical supplies, including medications to support the treatment of various health problems and vitamins. The availability of medical devices and medicines is a crucial part of UPNVJ's support for community needs during the emergency response period.

In addition to medical needs, food aid is also being prepared in large quantities. A total of 732 food and snack products, including various types of biscuits and packaged foods, are being distributed to support the practical consumption needs of the affected communities.

580 Cleaning Supplies to Children's Needs

Attention is also paid to sanitation and personal hygiene. UPNVJ has collected at least 580 products for bathing, washing, toileting (MCK), and personal hygiene, including sanitary napkins, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, baby diapers, and toothbrushes.

Clothing assistance was also included, with 18 dozen items of clothing and underwear prepared to meet some of the basic needs of the affected community.

UPNVJ not only provided adult supplies, but also educational supplies for children in the affected areas. The aid included pens, 23 coloring books, 45 drawing books, 24 oil pastels, pencils, and 24 packs of notebooks.

Support for learning equipment is expected to help children continue to have the means to carry out educational activities in the post-disaster situation.

Prior to departure, all aid went through a process of collection, sorting, recording, and packaging. Distribution was directed to ensure aid reached those in need and reached the right targets.

Venus expressed her appreciation to all parties who had taken part in collecting and preparing for the distribution of aid.

"On behalf of UPN 'Veteran' Jakarta, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the entire academic community, donors, committee members, and all parties who have contributed. I hope all assistance provided reaches its intended recipients and benefits the people of East Nusa Tenggara," he said.

Through the graduation ceremony, UPNVJ emphasized that the value of National Defense extends beyond conceptual understanding, but is realized through concern for community issues. For UPNVJ, the university's presence in disaster situations is both a form of social responsibility and a form of community service.

"Together we care, together we serve, and together we realize National Defense through real action," said Venus closing the aid distribution.
