HumasUPNVJ - Rector of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, was present as a resource person at the Journalist Workshop on Indonesia's FOLU Net Sink 2030 held at the Ministry of Forestry Building of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, on Friday, May 16, 2025.
In the forum, Prof. Venus highlighted the importance of communication effectiveness in the FOLU Net Sink movement, especially at the cognitive, affective, and conative effects levels, which he said still needed further research.
"Phenomenological experience shows that this concept is quite 'present' in society (if explored), but still uses high language (abstract)," he said.
He added that, “The risk and benefit aspects are less captured by the non-public audience. The issue comes with all its complexity, so there needs to be sustainability communication.”
According to him, sustainability communication has an important role in supporting and promoting sustainability practices, especially when dealing with complex issues, having long-term impacts, and being delivered to communities with varying levels of literacy.
He also emphasized that we need real movement to go directly into the field, especially the general public and even those in remote areas, by delivering information that must be easy for all groups to understand.
