UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine Improves Teaching Quality Through Tutor and Instructor Refreshment Activities

UPNVJ Public Relations – The Faculty of Medicine of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (FK UPNVJ) held a Tutor and Instructor Refreshment activity as a strategic step in improving the quality of the learning process, especially in the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method and clinical practice.

This event was held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, both offline in the Hall of the Cipto Mangunkusumo Building, 4th Floor, and online via Zoom Meeting. The event was opened by Dr. dr. Tiwuk Susantiningsih, M.Biomed, Head of the Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ.

In his remarks, Dr. Tiwuk emphasized that refreshing and updating knowledge for tutors and instructors is an important part of ensuring the quality of medical education that is adaptive, sustainable, and in line with current developments.

This activity presented two speakers from renowned medical educational institutions, namely Dr. Yoyo Suhoyo, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine, Gadjah Mada University, and Dr. dr. Amelia Dwi Fitri, M.Med.Ed from the Faculty of Medicine, Jambi University.

Both shared materials on innovative learning strategies and current approaches to academic tutoring. The material presented was deemed highly relevant to strengthening the role of tutors and instructors in fostering a professional, participatory, and competency-based learning environment.

Dr. Tiwuk also added that this refresher activity aims to align perceptions between tutors and instructors regarding the educational vision of the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine, which focuses on developing students' soft skills, critical thinking skills, and clinical empathy.

By implementing this activity, FK UPNVJ hopes to continue producing graduates who are not only academically superior, but also have integrity in medical practice, and are able to respond to the challenges of the world of health in a professional and humane manner.
