UPNVJ Public Relations – Jakarta, July 27, 2026. The Faculty of Medicine of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (FK UPNVJ) held the Adjunct Professor Academic Series 2026 with Prof. Dr. Michael KH Ling from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The activity, which took place on July 27–28, 2026, was aimed at strengthening the capacity of lecturers in the fields of research, international scientific publications, and cross-border academic collaboration.
The first day's activities kicked off with a National Scientific Seminar titled "Introduction to Organoid Models and Stem Cells in Regenerative Medicine." The hybrid seminar was attended by lecturers, researchers, healthcare workers, and students from various institutions.
The seminar discussed the development of stem cell and organoid technology as a strategic field in regenerative medicine. This technology opens up opportunities for researchers to study tissue development, disease mechanisms, and potential therapies through research models that are increasingly relevant to human biology.
Prof. Michael shared his knowledge and research experience in developmental neurogenetics, neurogenetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. He also emphasized the importance of methodological skills and interdisciplinary collaboration in producing quality health research.
"Organoid and stem cell technology offer researchers significant opportunities to understand disease progression and develop more precise therapeutic approaches. However, their use must be supported by robust research design, mastery of methods, and multidisciplinary collaboration," said Prof. Michael.
He believes this academic meeting should not just be about exchanging knowledge. This forum needs to be developed into concrete collaborations in the development of research proposals, joint research implementation, and publication of articles in reputable scientific journals.
"International collaboration is important because today's health issues are increasingly complex and cannot be solved by a single discipline or institution. I hope this activity will result in joint proposals, scientific publications, and research that will provide tangible benefits to the development of medical science and health services," he said.
Following the seminar, the series of activities continued with Writing Proposal Training. This training was designed to improve lecturers' skills in developing competitive research proposals for national and international funding schemes.
Participants receive mentoring from developing research ideas, identifying novelty, formulating objectives, and developing strategies for securing research funding. This mentoring is expected to foster proposals that are not only academically sound but also relevant to community needs and the development of health science.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ, stated that the Adjunct Professor Academic Series is part of the faculty's commitment to improving the quality of human resources in the fields of research and scientific publication.
"Through the presence of visiting professors from Universiti Putra Malaysia, we hope that lecturers will gain new insights, strengthen their international collaborative networks, and increase research productivity and reputable publications. This activity also represents a concrete step in supporting the internationalization of the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine," he said.
The program focuses not only on knowledge transfer but also on the development of research proposals ready for grant submission and scientific articles that can be developed for publication in reputable journals. This activity also opens up opportunities for ongoing research collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ, and Universiti Putra Malaysia.
The 2026 Adjunct Professor Academic Series will continue on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with a Review Article Writing Session. During this session, selected participants will receive intensive mentoring to improve the quality of their scientific articles.
The next agenda item is the PCR Masterclass, which will cover primer design, conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and real-time PCR applications. This class is expected to further strengthen the technical capabilities of lecturers and researchers in conducting accurate biomedical research that meets international standards.
Through the Adjunct Professor Academic Series 2026, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UPNVJ continues to develop an innovative, productive, and collaborative academic ecosystem. This program also strengthens the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education and supports UPNVJ's reputation as a globally competitive university.
