UPNVJ Public Relations – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) held the first day of the 2026 School of Political Movements (SPP) at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (BTI) Auditorium on Thursday, October 22, 2026. This activity aims to strengthen political literacy, build leadership character, and raise students' awareness of social responsibility and democratic life. Through discussions with legislators, researchers, and student organization activists, participants were encouraged to understand how leadership with integrity can be realized through concrete actions in society.
Carrying the theme "Building Student Leadership with Integrity and the Ability to Create Real Change with the Spirit of National Defense," SPP 2026 is a political learning platform that emphasizes critical thinking skills, courage to express ideas, and concern for public issues.
The event, which took place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. WIB, was attended by the UPNVJ FISIP Student Family. Through this forum, students had the opportunity to broaden their insights into national socio-political dynamics and discuss the role of the younger generation in fostering constructive social change.
Featuring Legislators, Researchers, and Student Organization Activists
The 2026 School of Political Movement presented three speakers with diverse backgrounds: Dr. Hj. Netty Prasetiyani, SS, M.Sc., Deputy Chair of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction of the Indonesian House of Representatives; Teddy Chrisprimate Putra, ST, M.Sos., a researcher at CCHRS; and Zufar Hafiz, Central Coordinator of the Indonesian Association of Social and Political Science Student Institutions (ILMISPI).
The diverse backgrounds of the speakers are one of the strengths of this activity. Perspectives from legislative bodies, research, and student organizations provide participants with a platform to understand the relationship between political processes, academic studies, and social movements in democratic life.
Through this learning, students are encouraged to understand politics not only as a process of seizing or managing power, but also as a means of fighting for public interests, building dialogue, and seeking solutions to societal problems.
Discussions on transformative leadership and social advocacy are also crucial in strengthening participants' capacities. Students are expected to develop their ability to analyze issues, express their aspirations responsibly, and build collaborations with various stakeholders.
Strengthening Student Leadership Based on National Defense
The 2026 SPP also places the values of national defense as a foundation for developing student leadership character. Within the context of campus life, this spirit can be realized through academic integrity, social awareness, respect for differences of opinion, and active participation in democratic life.
This approach demonstrates that student leadership development requires more than just public speaking or organizational management skills. A leader also needs to be sensitive to societal issues, make ethical decisions, and be accountable for their actions.
Through the School of Political Movements, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of UPNVJ strives to provide a learning space that connects academic knowledge with the practice of socio-political life. This activity also serves as a means of strengthening a culture of discussion and exchange of ideas within the student community.
The 2026 SPP series is scheduled to continue on Saturday (October 24, 2026), from 7:00 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. WIB, in Rooms 301–303 of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Building B, UPNVJ. The second day of meetings will be a continuation of the learning process to deepen participants' understanding of leadership, socio-political issues, and advocacy.
