Reorienting National Defense in the Digital Era, UPNVJ and IKABENAS Hold a National Seminar on the Momentum of the Youth Pledge

UPNVJ Public Relations – In order to commemorate the 97th Youth Pledge Day, the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) in collaboration with the National Defense Cadre Association (IKABENAS) held a National National Defense Seminar with the theme “Reorientation of National Defense Towards Golden Indonesia 2045” on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. This activity is a strategic momentum to reaffirm the spirit of nationalism, love of the homeland, and national unity amidst the challenges of the digital era and globalization.

The event opened with a report from the Committee Chair, Agung Raharjo Catur Prabowo, SE, MM, who expressed his gratitude to all participants and invited guests for attending. In his report, he stated that the seminar was attended by 100 participants, consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Lemhannas, KNPI, OKP, UPNVJ students, and alumni of national defense cadres from various regions in Indonesia.
"Of the 26 provinces invited, representatives from 17 provinces were present in person. This seminar is a concrete manifestation of our commitment to strengthening awareness and the spirit of national defense, especially among the younger generation," Agung said.

He further emphasized that the theme is not merely a slogan, but rather a reflection of the nation's new challenges. "Current threats are not only military but also non-military, such as the spread of ideologies that contradict Pancasila, the proliferation of hoaxes, and economic and social issues. Therefore, national defense cadres must possess broad insight and physical and mental resilience to be at the forefront of safeguarding the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he emphasized.

On the same occasion, the Chair of IKABENAS National Level, Dr. Yoga Santosa, SE, MBA, said that the spirit of the Youth Pledge was the main reason for choosing the date for holding this seminar.

"The spirit of October 28th is a spirit that never fades within us. Even though we're no longer young, our passion for national defense remains strong," he said.
Dr. Yoga explained the simple meaning of the determination to defend the nation through the acronym CINTA SAYA PUNYA KEMAPAN. Cinta means love for the homeland, Saya means awareness of nation and state, Belief in the Pancasila ideology and the 1945 Constitution, and Mampu means readiness to protect the nation from all threats and challenges. "The theme of this seminar is an invitation to continue the spirit of defending the nation by our next generation," he added.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General TNI Ferry Trisnaputra, as Head of the National Defense Training Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense's Human Resources Development Agency, emphasized that defending the country is the responsibility of all citizens.

"Defending the nation involves not only facing physical threats, but also ideological, economic, social, and cultural ones. In today's digital age, threats come through cyberspace, which can erode the spirit of nationalism," he said.

Closing his opening remarks, the Chancellor of UPNVJ, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., said that the values of national defense have become part of the campus' identity and character.
"At UPNVJ, the words 'Development' and 'Veteran' are used to describe the spirit of the fighters. This campus is founded on the values of struggle and patriotism. UPNVJ's spirit of national defense is realized through a non-military approach that keeps pace with current challenges, particularly in cyberspace," he explained.

Before proceeding with the event, a video greeting from the Governor of Lemhannas RI, Dr. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si., further enhanced the event's significance. Dr. Ace also expressed his high appreciation for the National National Defense Seminar. He expressed his support and hopes that this event would be a success and inspire the younger generation to continue fostering the spirit of national defense in various aspects of life.

Following the opening session, the event continued with a panel discussion moderated by Erwin Nizar, M.Si., Chair of the National Defense Movement (GBN) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The discussion featured four speakers representing various scientific and practical perspectives:

Through collaboration between UPNVJ and IKABENAS, this activity is expected to become a vehicle for cross-generational and cross-disciplinary learning, as well as strengthen the synergy between academics, government, and society in instilling the values of national defense amidst global challenges.
