UPNVJ Anniversary General Meeting: BNN Chief Urges Academics to Become the Vanguard of P4GN

UPNVJ Public Relations – The Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Commissioner General of Police Prof. Dr. Ario Seto, SIK, SH, M.Si., was the main speaker at the Studium Generale in conjunction with the 48th Anniversary of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), Wednesday (11/19/2025). In the public lecture entitled General Lecture of the Head of the BNN RI to the UPNVJ academic community, he emphasized that drugs have targeted campuses in a structured manner and warned that the university environment is no longer sterile from illicit trafficking.

Commissioner General Suyudi began his presentation with startling data: in 2025, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) seized 12,000 hard drug pills from a campus cafeteria in the Serang area. "This is a loud alarm. Campuses have become easy targets for drug syndicates," he stressed before hundreds of lecturers, educational staff, and students at UPNVJ.

He also cited the World Drug Report 2024, which stated that the number of global drug users will reach 292 million by 2022, a 20 percent increase in a decade. He argued that law enforcement must remain just and humane to prevent a new cycle of violence.

The five policy focuses of the BNN for the 2025–2029 period, which are explained in detail, are massive and innovative prevention, professional and just eradication, humane and easily accessible rehabilitation, strengthening research and technology, and national and international synergy.

"The war on drugs is part of the President's Asta Cita (Asta Cita), particularly point seven on legal and governance reform. This is a national movement that requires unity from all elements of the nation," said Commissioner General Suyudi.

After the presentation, the event continued with the handover of souvenirs and a group photo, while also emphasizing UPNVJ's position as a university that actively supports the national Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Prevention and Eradication Program (P4GN).
