77th National Defense Day Commemoration at UPNVJ: Presidential Message and Awards for Retired Employees

UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) held a ceremony to commemorate the 77th National Defense Day on Friday morning, December 19, 2025, at the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine Building, Pondok Labu Campus. This ceremony involved the entire academic community and differed from the regular monthly ceremonies because it coincided with National Defense Day. Prof. Netti Herawati, UPNVJ's Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, and General Affairs, acted as the ceremony instructor who read the message of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. This year's theme, "Strengthen National Defense for a Progressive Indonesia," emphasized national preparedness to face global challenges such as cyber warfare and radicalism.

In his address, the President highlighted the rapidly changing dynamics of the world, including geopolitical rivalries, the energy crisis, and technological disruption. Threats to the state are now not only conventional, but also include radical movements, cyberattacks, and increasingly frequent natural disasters. The spirit of national defense must be a collective strength for all Indonesian citizens to achieve national progress. This ceremony aligns with UPNVJ's identity as a national defense campus that routinely instills patriotic values through similar activities every 17th.

In addition to the reading of the mandate, UPNVJ presented awards to four retired employees for their dedication. They are Dedi S. Sos from the Bureau of Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation; Drs. Nobelson, MM from the Faculty of Economics and Business; Hayatuddin, SH, MH from the Faculty of Law; and Dr. Sophiana Widiastutie, SE, M.Sc. from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Awards were also given to UPNVJ students who excelled in the 2025 Academic Integrity Competition, as a form of appreciation for their commitment to educational ethics.

The ceremony at UPNVJ is not just a ceremony, but rather an implementation of the national defense policy that is integrated into the curriculum and all activities on campus.
