UPNVJ-USK Collaboration: Medical Aid and School Supplies for Flood Victims in Bireuen Regency

UPNVJ Public Relations - The Care Team of the National Veteran Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) in collaboration with the Syiah Kuala University Task Force (USK Task Force) carried out a handover of assistance for elementary school needs for students in grades 1 to 6 in Bireuen Regency, Aceh, on Sunday (13/12/25).

The aid distributed amounted to 8 dozen school supplies packages, intended for girls and boys, as a form of support for educational recovery after the flood disaster that hit the area.

In addition to educational assistance, the UPNVJ Care Team and the USK Task Force also distributed logistical assistance in the form of food, drinks, and toilet needs in Darul Aman Village, Bireuen Regency.

Based on Iksan's report, as the Field Coordinator of the UPNVJ Care Team, the team is currently also providing outpatient health services, including general medical treatment and wound care for flood-affected communities.

"In addition to medical services, the team also provides education to patients about wound care and how to properly take medication to prevent complications and increase public health awareness," Iksan said in his report.

Iksan also provided an overview of the health facilities at the location. Electricity is currently available at the Peusangan Community Health Center/Regional General Hospital, but clean water supplies are still inadequate. He also added that there is no stock of ATS vaccine, while the need has increased due to the high number of cases of nail puncture wounds and broken glass following the flood. Furthermore, stocks of medicines, equipment, and medical supplies for healthcare services are still incomplete and inadequate.

Meanwhile, Dr. Pritha Maya stated that field conditions also require special attention regarding the prevention of respiratory tract diseases.

"The location is in dire need of masks for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for both the medical team and the public, considering that many residents are experiencing coughing as a result of the flood," explained Dr. Pritha Maya.

Furthermore, he emphasized the urgent needs currently required at the location, including ATS vaccine, medical masks, medicines, minor surgical kits, and sanitation supplies.

Through this collaboration, the UPNVJ Care Team and the USK Task Force hope to continue making a real contribution in supporting the recovery of health, education, and welfare of disaster-affected communities in Bireuen Regency.
