UPNVJ Public Relations — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ) Jakarta held a briefing for prospective graduates of the 2025/2026 academic year at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium on February 9, 2026. The event was attended by prospective graduates from all study programs within the FISIP.
The briefing session began with a Faculty Senate meeting attended by the UPNVJ Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) dean. The senate meeting marked the beginning of a series of briefing sessions and strengthened the academic identity of prospective graduates before entering the workforce.
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at UPNVJ, Dr. S. Bekti Istiyanto, M.Si., emphasized the importance of self-confidence as a key asset for graduates. He stated that FISIP students are equipped with the scientific competencies, values, and integrity that must be believed to be the strengths needed to compete in the professional world.
"Self-confidence is a crucial foundation. FISIP graduates have the knowledge and character to adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of the working world," he said.
Following the senate session, the event continued with a briefing session on Personal Branding and Professional Ethics in the Digital Age. The session featured Arfiana Maulina as a resource person, moderated by Rut Rismanta Silalahi, a lecturer in Communication Studies at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at UPNVJ.
In her presentation, Arfiana explained that personal branding is the public perception of a person's professional identity, shaped by reputation, expertise, values, and consistent behavior, particularly in the digital space. She emphasized that current recruitment processes increasingly consider a candidate's digital footprint.
Arfiana also outlined the challenges new graduates often face, such as high competition, weak differentiation, and unclear professional positions. Therefore, students are encouraged to build their personal branding early on by identifying areas of interest, strengthening their portfolios, consistently sharing ideas, and strategically utilizing professional digital platforms.
In addition to personal branding, professional ethics in the digital age is also under scrutiny. Students are reminded that behavior on social media reflects long-term professional identity. Problematic content, such as the spread of hoaxes, toxic speech, or privacy violations, is considered potentially damaging to reputations and career opportunities.
Through this provision, FISIP UPNVJ hopes that prospective graduates will not only be academically prepared, but also have mental readiness, professionalism, and ethical awareness in facing the increasingly competitive and dynamic world of work.
