Fabiana Amhnun, a UPNVJ Faculty of Social and Political Sciences student, shares her journalism internship at the Higher Education Secretariat General.

Public Relations UPNVJ - Fabiana Amhnun, a Communication Studies student at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ), completed an internship as a journalist in the Public Relations Division of the Secretariat General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek). This experience is part of the Kemdiktisaintek Impact Internship Program, which provides students with the opportunity to directly enter the professional world. Fabiana called this national program a "strong starting point" for building a career in communications and journalism.

In an interview with the UPNVJ Public Relations Team on Tuesday (February 3, 2026), Fabiana revealed that she chose this internship because of its relevance to her public communications major. During the internship, she was directly involved in writing press releases published on the official Kemdiktisaintek website, compiling the Directorate General of Higher Education's internal magazine, and managing public information, which must be accurate, clear, and easily understood by the public.

"Working in a government agency taught me how to convey public information through writing. That was the most valuable experience," he said. He also applies the public communication theory he learned in class to create content that builds a positive image for the Directorate General of Higher Education and the Secretariat General. The magazine he produces features strategic programs from three directorates as well as the achievements of students, lecturers, and higher education institutions.

Fabiana admitted the biggest challenge was adjusting to the government agency's workflow, which differs significantly from that of a student organization. "The journalist position in my unit is relatively new, so it required significant adjustment," she said. Nevertheless, she feels her work is clearly recorded both digitally and physically, making a real impact on her partners.

Fabiana hopes this experience will be valuable for the future. "At least I've gained a new perspective that helps me see more broadly how the world works," she concluded.
