UPNVJ Public Relations – The Jakarta “Veteran” National Development University (UPNVJ) received a visit from the Jakarta Provincial Government to hold the Orientation Forum for New Recipients of the Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU) Phase II of 2025 on Friday (10/2). This activity is part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's agenda to provide supplies, motivation, and strengthen commitment to students receiving KJMU educational assistance so that they are disciplined, achieve, and complete their studies on time. The Phase II Activity at UPNVJ was attended directly by the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno, the Mayor of South Jakarta M. Anwar, and the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Education Office Nahdiana.
In his opening remarks, UPNVJ Rector Prof. Anter Venus stated that many people are still unaware that UPNVJ has become a State University (PTN). He explained that since its transformation into a PTN, UPNVJ has experienced significant growth, including in the number of applicants.
"There are 94,000 people interested in entering UPN, and only around 5–8 percent are accepted," he said. He also added that UPNVJ successfully ranked 9th in 2024 for the highest average UTBK score at the national level and remains committed to transforming and improving its performance as a Public Service Agency (BLU).
Regarding the KJMU program, Prof. Venus revealed that UPNVJ does not apply the Single Tuition Fee (UKT) evenly across higher education groups. As many as 40 percent of students are in UKT groups 1–4. She also expressed her appreciation to the Jakarta Provincial Government for its support through the KJMU program.
"The latest data shows that 1,082 students are actively receiving the KJMU scholarship at UPNVJ. This program is extraordinary because it can improve the social stratification of its recipients," he explained. He also added that the average Grade Point Average (GPA) for KJMU recipients at UPNVJ is 3.71.
Prof. Venus hopes that the KJMU program can be maintained and even expanded so that more students can be helped in accessing higher education.
Following the Rector's remarks, the event continued with the symbolic handover of KJMU aid to four students from the class of 2025: Abdul Rohman Irwansyah (DIII Information Systems), Auffar Rizqullah (S1 Law), Febiey Natasya Budi Kayla (S1 Accounting), and Ratu Alini Ghina Salma (S1 Political Science). The aid was handed over directly by Prof. Venus and Deputy Governor Rano.
In his remarks, Deputy Governor Rano emphasized that the KJMU program represents a form of regional government investment in human resource development. He noted that the number of KJMU recipients continues to increase year after year.
"In Phase I, 16,979 students were registered as recipients, while in Phase II, the number reached 16,920. Specifically, at UPN Veteran Jakarta, the number of recipients was 1,082 students, consisting of 107 new recipients and 975 continuing recipients," he explained.
Deputy Governor Rano also added that KJMU recipients not only receive assistance with educational costs, but also coaching, mentoring, and the opportunity to participate in various self-development programs.
At the end of his remarks, Deputy Governor Rano advised KJMU recipients to demonstrate academic and non-academic achievements, as well as to make real contributions to society.
"Students must play an active role in assisting residents, protecting the environment, and participating in empowerment programs," he concluded.
