Public Relations of UPNVJ – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (FISIP UPNVJ) held an international seminar entitled “Ambassador and Expert Talk: The Middle East Conflict and The Future of the Multipolar World” on Wednesday, April 16, 2026. This activity brought together ambassadors and experts to discuss the dynamics of the Middle East conflict, global geopolitical changes, and their implications for the future of an increasingly multipolar world order. This seminar also featured HE Mohammad Boroujerdi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, as one of the keynote speakers.
This seminar was organized in response to rising global tensions affecting regional stability and international relations. In this context, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of UPNVJ sees the importance of providing a space for academic dialogue that brings together diplomatic perspectives and scientific studies to interpret the direction of global change more clearly, critically, and balancedly.
This forum invited participants to discuss a number of strategic issues, including the development of the conflict involving Iran, the possible shift from a unipolar to a multipolar world, and its impact on international relations across various regions. The seminar also highlighted how geopolitical changes could impact the foreign policies of developing countries, including Indonesia, amidst an increasingly complex global situation.
In addition to discussing conflict dynamics, this seminar provided a platform to examine challenges in global governance, regional security, energy, and international trade. The Middle East's strategic position in global energy flows means that any escalation of conflict in the region could have a far-reaching impact on the global economy. In recent weeks, the conflict, which began on February 28, 2026, has triggered major disruptions to energy supplies and shipping security around the Strait of Hormuz.
From an academic perspective, this seminar also affirmed UPNVJ's FISIP commitment to continuously presenting international forums relevant to current global issues. Such activities are expected to broaden the insights of students, faculty, and the public regarding contemporary international relations, while strengthening the campus's role as a space for the exchange of ideas based on knowledge, diplomacy, and the interests of global peace.
For UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, this international seminar also serves as an effort to strengthen academic and diplomatic networks globally. Amidst rapid geopolitical change, universities play a crucial role in fostering critical thinking, enriching public discourse, and providing intellectual contributions to objective and responsible reading of international issues.
