UPNVJ Records Increase in 2026 West SMMPTN Participants, Law Study Program Most Popular

UPNVJ Public Relations — The implementation of the 2026 Independent Selection for Entrance to State Universities in the Western Region (SMMPTN Barat) at the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) showed an increase in the number of participants compared to the previous year.

Fajar Nugroho, the Coordinator of the SMMPTN Barat UPNVJ Implementation Committee, revealed that the number of participants has increased this year. In 2025, the number of SMMPTN Barat participants at UPNVJ was recorded at 1,016. Meanwhile, in 2026, the number of permanent participants reached 1,058.

"This means there was an increase of 42 participants compared to the previous year," explained Fajar.

In terms of study program interest, Fajar stated that the Bachelor of Law program remains the top choice for applicants. Next in line are Communication Studies, Management, and Industrial Engineering.

"For 2026, the number of study programs chosen will still be dominated by the Bachelor of Law program in first place, followed by Communication Studies in second, and Management in third. Industrial Engineering is in fourth place. Trend-wise, these programs have consistently been the top choice every year," he said.

Fajar further emphasized that the exam at UPNVJ is strictly supervised to maintain the integrity of the selection process. He stated that all stages of the SMMPTN Barat (Western State University Entrance Examination) implementation at UPNVJ follow the procedures established by the central committee.

"Participants are required to undergo a document check, including their participant card, diploma or Certificate of Completion, and identification. Furthermore, all participants will be screened using a metal detector before entering the examination room," he said.

Fajar added that the committee also provided a special waiting room for participants to store their belongings before entering the examination room.

"All participant bags are left in the designated waiting area, which is monitored by CCTV. Once participants enter the exam room, the room is locked to ensure the safety of their belongings," he explained.

Inside the exam room, the proctors also strictly carry out identity verification. Verification is carried out by matching the participant's identity with the provided documents and photos.

"Supervisors will verify participants' identities against the available documents and photos. Furthermore, supervisors will actively walk around during the exam to ensure there is no cheating, including the use of aids or cheating," he added.

With these various supervisory measures, UPNVJ confirms its commitment to ensuring that the implementation of the university entrance selection process runs honestly, fairly, transparently, and with integrity.
