UPNVJ Public Relations – The “Veteran” National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) held a trial of the 2026 UPNVJ Independent Selection National Defense Literacy Exam (SEMA) online on Wednesday (17/6/2026).
A total of 8,176 participants took part in the trial to ensure the readiness of the application, devices, verification mechanisms, and coordination between participants and supervisors before the exam was held on June 25, 2026. The trial was part of UPNVJ's preparation in serving around 9,003 SEMA participants in an orderly, safe, and accountable manner.
UPNVJ Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Chair of the New Student Admissions Committee (Penmaru), Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan Sitorus, ST, MT, said that supervision must be carried out optimally because the potential for violations in online-based exams still needs to be anticipated.
"The potential for fraud still exists. Therefore, we must maintain strict supervision. I hope all supervisors on duty will work optimally to minimize any forms of fraud and obstacles that arise," said Henry while giving instructions to the supervisors.
According to him, the experience of conducting independent selections in previous years is crucial for all officers to carry out their duties professionally. Although the activity has become a routine activity, each supervisor is still required to maintain integrity and ensure that all stages of the exam are conducted according to regulations.
"This activity is a routine annual event. I believe we can all give our best and be responsible for the mandate given to us until the national defense literacy exam on June 25th," he said.
A total of 171 proctors were assigned to monitor participants online. The supervision and coordination process was controlled from four rooms: CBT Rooms A and B on the third floor of the MERCe Building, the Faculty of Health Sciences room on the second floor, and the Faculty of Engineering room on the third floor.
Meanwhile, 20 supervisors have been prepared for the offline implementation of the national defense literacy exam using 10 rooms at the UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus.
The offline exam is intended for participants who have chosen the Bachelor of Medicine study program. Participants in this group will receive guidance and a readiness test on the day of the exam.
UPNVJ Penmaru Implementation Coordinator, Fajar Nugroho, explained that the trial was focused on ensuring participants could access the exam application and understand all the stages they had to go through.
Early checks are considered important to ensure that major technical problems do not reappear on the day of implementation.
"All participants were given the opportunity to test their login to the exam application before the exam day. We hope there will be no major issues on the exam day, so participants can proceed directly to the selection process," said Fajar.
During the session, proctors are asked to ensure participants have joined the designated WhatsApp group. If a participant is not yet in the group, proctors can check the participant summary and the latest contact information, then confirm this once the participant is in the Zoom room.
Proctors must also ensure that participants enter their username and password correctly, have downloaded or printed their exam participant card, and are using the Secure Exam Browser (SEB) application from the official UPNVJ channel. Participants experiencing installation issues are directed to read the instructions and contact the support staff listed on their exam card.
In addition to testing the app login process, participants were introduced to the verification steps, menus, and various features within the exam app. They were also reminded to arrive on time, show their exam documents, and prepare a laptop or computer for working on the exam questions and a mobile phone for joining the Zoom session.
Participants who are unable to participate in the trial exam for valid reasons may still be excused, provided they have successfully logged into the exam application. This information must be communicated directly to the on-duty proctor. Participants who withdraw must be recorded in the BAPU (Badan Pembinaan Umum), while those who must leave the trial exam early may be permitted to do so after successfully logging into the application.
Through this trial, UPNVJ is trying to ensure the readiness of participants, officers, information technology systems, and monitoring facilities to run in an integrated manner.
Under the leadership of UPNVJ Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, the strengthening of new student admissions governance continues to be directed towards maintaining objective, transparent, safe, and accountable selection.
