UPNVJ Public Relations - Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) marked a new phase of digital transformation through the Soft-Launching of the Integrated Digital Service Ecosystem at the UPNVJ Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, Friday (17/7/2026). The event, organized by the Information and Communication Technology Academic Support Unit (UPA TIK), carried the theme "From Service Needs to an Integrated Digital Ecosystem." The launch is a strategic step for UPNVJ in building modern, connected, and technology-, data-, and collaboration-based university governance towards a Smart University.
UPN Veteran Jakarta Rector, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., emphasized that the event was not merely the launch of a new digital service or information system. This soft launch marked the beginning of a new phase of UPNVJ's digital transformation as an adaptive, innovative, and competitive university.
"Today we are not just launching several digital services. Today we mark the beginning of a new phase of digital transformation at the National Development University 'Veteran' Jakarta. This transformation is a strategic step to transform UPN Veteran Jakarta into a more modern university, adaptive to change, and ready to face the challenges of higher education in the digital era," said Venus.
According to the Chancellor, digital transformation doesn't stop at the use of devices or the implementation of new technologies. These changes also encompass how universities operate, provide services, manage data, and make decisions. Therefore, digital transformation needs to be built into a continuously evolving organizational culture to address the dynamics of higher education.
He continued, saying that the development of a Digital Campus is the initial foundation for a Smart University. Through the integration of technology, data, users, and business processes, academic and non-academic services are expected to become more connected, enabling university governance to be more effective, efficient, transparent, and accountable.
"A Smart University is a university that optimally utilizes technology, data, and innovation, ensuring that every policy is supported by accurate data, every service is integrated, and every decision can be made more quickly, precisely, objectively, and accountably. Technology is no longer merely an administrative tool, but rather a key driver for improving the quality of university governance," he explained.
In developing this ecosystem, the OneUPNVJ concept is a key philosophy. This concept connects one portal, one identity, one data, and various integrated services to provide a simpler, faster, and more consistent service experience for the entire academic community.
Through OneUPNVJ integration, data is entered only once and then shared across multiple interconnected systems. This data can then be processed into strategic information to support university operations and strengthen the basis for leadership decision-making.
This integration is also expected to reduce repetitive data entry, speed up service flows, and maintain uniform information across systems. This way, each work unit can use the same data source to run services and develop policies.
UPNVJ's digital transformation is also aimed at simplifying business processes, improving the quality of digital-based services, and strengthening the implementation of green technology through a paperless work culture. Furthermore, the university is positioning data as a strategic asset and preparing to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) in developing academic and administrative services.
Venus emphasized that the success of this agenda is not solely determined by sophisticated systems and infrastructure. Human resource readiness to change work patterns, improve digital competency, and build collaboration between work units are equally important factors.
"Digital transformation is not the work of a single work unit, nor is it solely the responsibility of the Information and Communication Technology Unit. Digital transformation is a strategic university agenda that requires collaboration, synergy, and commitment from the entire academic community. Its success is determined by our readiness to change, collaborate, and continuously innovate," he emphasized.
On the same occasion, the Head of UPA ICT UPN Veteran Jakarta, Asep Saeful Ridwan, S.Kom., explained that the digital service ecosystem introduced in the soft-launching will be developed in stages since 2025. The development includes mapping service needs, aligning business processes, strengthening information technology infrastructure, improving information security, and integrating various systems within the university environment.
According to Asep, UPNVJ is not simply building a new application, but rather laying the foundation for a digital ecosystem that connects applications, data, users, and business processes. This foundation is designed to make university services more accessible, faster, more transparent, more efficient, and more supported by consistent data.
The Rector assessed that this soft launch marks the beginning of UPNVJ's long journey toward becoming a university of the future. Continuous implementation, evaluation, security enhancement, and service development are necessary to ensure the digital ecosystem delivers tangible benefits to students, lecturers, educational staff, and all stakeholders.
"In fact, what we are launching today is not just a digital service ecosystem, but also a new work culture, a new way of thinking, and a new future for UPN Veteran Jakarta. With a spirit of collaboration and mutual cooperation, I am confident that UPN Veteran Jakarta will continue to evolve from a Digital Campus to a Smart University that excels in service, is data-driven in decision-making, adapts to technological developments, and is able to make a real contribution to the advancement of higher education in Indonesia," he concluded.
