UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) is building two new canteens within the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) on the Pondok Labu Campus in South Jakarta. The construction, which began in August 2026, is targeted for completion in December 2026 and will be fully operational in 2027. The development of these facilities is part of UPNVJ's efforts to improve comfort while providing a more representative culinary and interaction space for the academic community.
The construction includes the FEB Hallway Canteen, the FISIP Rooftop Canteen, and the FISIP Bridge Canopy. Based on the UPNVJ Tender Information System, the FEB Hallway Canteen work package has an Estimated Own Price (HPS) of Rp2.22 billion, while the FISIP Rooftop Canteen and Bridge Canopy have an HPS of around Rp1.47 billion.
UPNVJ Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., said that the development of supporting facilities is an important part of creating an increasingly comfortable and high-quality academic environment.
"Campus is not just a space for academic activities, but also a place for interaction, discussion, relaxation, and building camaraderie. Therefore, we need to provide supporting facilities such as a cafeteria with proper planning to provide comfort and support the productivity of the academic community," said Prof. Anter Venus.
According to the Chancellor, the new canteen is also expected to provide a more suitable space for students, lecturers, and educational staff to meet their daily needs while on campus.
"We hope this facility will serve not only as a place to eat and drink, but also as a healthy and comfortable interaction space. Management will also need to pay attention to cleanliness, comfort, order, and quality of service so that the entire academic community can optimally benefit from it," he added.
The FISIP Canteen is Equipped with a Multipurpose Room and Tenants
Within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), a new canteen is being built on the bridge and rooftop of the Muhammad Yamin Building. Work is scheduled to last from August 21 to December 18, 2026.
The canteen is designed not only as a culinary area but also features a multi-purpose room and several tenants. This concept allows the canteen area to be used as a space to support student activities, from resting and socializing to more informal discussions.
The use of rooftop areas and bridges is also part of optimizing the available space within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). These developments are expected to address the need for interactive spaces as student activity increases on the Pondok Labu campus.
After all physical work and operational preparations are completed, the FISIP canteen is targeted to be used effectively starting in early 2027.
The FEB Canteen Offers Eight Tenants and Around 40 Seats
Meanwhile, the new FEB cafeteria is under construction in the hallway of the MH Thamrin Building. Work is scheduled to take place from August 20 to December 17, 2026.
The FEB canteen is designed to accommodate eight food and beverage outlets, providing a wider variety of options for students and faculty. The area will also be equipped with approximately 40 seats for user comfort.
The use of the MH Thamrin Building corridor as a canteen is expected to optimize the function of the space while providing culinary facilities closer to the center of FEB student activities.
Like the FISIP canteen, the new facilities at FEB are targeted to be used effectively in 2027 after physical construction and all operational preparations are completed.
Part of UPNVJ Campus Facilities Development
The construction of the FEB and FISIP canteens is part of UPNVJ's facility expansion to support increased academic and student activities. Previously, the university also developed various learning infrastructure and supporting facilities to improve service quality and create a more conducive campus environment.
The presence of the two new canteens is expected to not only meet the need for food and drinks, but also provide a communal space that encourages interaction between students as well as between students, lecturers, and educational staff.
For UPNVJ, campus infrastructure development must go hand in hand with improving service quality. Therefore, the completion of construction by the end of 2026 and planned utilization starting in 2027 are aimed at providing a more comfortable, organized, and safe campus experience that supports the productivity of the academic community.
The Chancellor emphasized that the physical development is part of UPNVJ's efforts to continuously improve the quality of educational services. The increasingly adequate infrastructure is expected to support the creation of a productive academic environment while enhancing the quality of the student experience while studying at UPNVJ.
