UPNVJ Public Relations – PATTANI, Thailand – Southern Thai students’ enthusiasm for higher education opportunities in Indonesia was evident at the 2026 Indonesia Education Fair (IEF) held at Prince of Songkla University (PSU) Pattani, Thailand, on Wednesday (September 2, 2026). During the “University Exhibition and Booth Visits” session, the exhibition area was packed with visitors eager to gain firsthand information about study programs, scholarship opportunities, and academic experiences at various Indonesian universities, including the “Veteran” National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ).
A total of 30 Indonesian universities participated in IEF 2026 to introduce various higher education options to prospective international students, especially from the Southern Thailand region.
The UPNVJ booth was one of the most eye-catching. Several Southern Thai students visited the booth to discuss their top study programs, international student admissions, campus life, educational facilities, and opportunities for personal development while studying in Jakarta.
The high level of visitor interest demonstrates the growing opportunities for educational cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand, particularly in introducing quality study options to the younger generation in the ASEAN region. Students sought not only information about available majors but also a better understanding of the learning experience, academic environment, and international student life in Indonesia.
Through its participation in IEF 2026, UPNVJ strengthens its commitment to implementing its university internationalization strategy by introducing the concept of Jakarta as a "learning space." This concept positions Jakarta not merely as a campus location but as a learning ecosystem that provides international students with access to the center of economic, governmental, innovation, and technological development in Southeast Asia.
UPNVJ Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, said that international students need an educational experience that can connect academic learning with real-world dynamics.
"For international students, UPNVJ offers Jakarta as a true classroom. We don't place international students in isolated study bubbles, but rather provide direct access to the economic, political, and largest digital ecosystem hub in Southeast Asia," said Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm.
Dira, a Prince of Songkla University (PSU) student who assisted at the UPNVJ booth during the event, also shared the visitor's enthusiasm. She observed many students interested in learning more about educational opportunities in Indonesia.
"Many students came to the UPNVJ booth and asked about study programs, student life, and their experiences studying in Jakarta. They seemed very interested in learning about study opportunities in Indonesia, especially at UPNVJ," said Dira.
According to him, the presence of Indonesian universities in international educational arenas provides an opportunity for Thai students to obtain direct information before deciding on their choice of studying abroad.
UPNVJ's participation in the 2026 Indonesia Education Fair is part of an effort to expand its international academic network and promote UPNVJ's identity as a National Defense Campus globally. Through education oriented toward competence, character, and social contribution, UPNVJ continues to encourage the production of graduates who are competitive and impactful to the international community.
