UPNVJ's 2026 HMPKM Scientific Forum Equips Public Health Postgraduate Students to Produce Impactful Research

UPNVJ Public Relations – JAKARTA – The Public Health Postgraduate Student Association (HMPKM) of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of the “Veteran” National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) held the 2026 HMPKM Scientific Forum entitled “Knitting Collaboration, Growing Innovation” on Saturday (8/22/2026). The activity, which took place online via Zoom Meeting from 08.00–11.30 WIB, raised the theme “From Research Ideas to Scientific Contribution: Finding Research Gaps and Building Research Novelty as an effort to strengthen the research culture and increase the academic capacity of students in the UPNVJ Masters Program in Public Health.

The scientific forum was attended by new students of the Public Health Study Program, Master's Program, FIKES UPNVJ, Class of 2026. This activity became an initial learning space for postgraduate students to understand the process of developing research ideas, identifying research gaps , and formulating research novelties that have a contribution to the development of public health science.

The Dean of FIKES UPNVJ, Dr. Sri Yani, SST. FT. Ftr., M.Sc. , was also present along with the Vice Dean for Student Affairs Agustiyawan, S.ST.FT., M.Fis., Ftr., AIFO , the Coordinator of the Public Health Study Program for the Master's Program Dr. Apriningsih, SKM, MKM , and the administrators of HMPKM FIKES UPNVJ. The presence of the faculty leaders emphasized the institution's support for strengthening the academic atmosphere, student collaboration, and research development in the postgraduate environment.

The Head of HMPKM FIKES UPNVJ, Asto Ginawang, SKM , in his remarks said that the Scientific Forum is a strategic step to build strong academic relationships between students while introducing the role of postgraduate student organizations as a forum for scientific development.

The series of activities began with participant registration, opening, reading of prayers, singing the Indonesian national anthem and the National Defense March, as well as remarks from the Chair of HMPKM, Study Program Coordinator, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, and Dean of FIKES UPNVJ.

Entering the main agenda, participants received a presentation from Prof. Dr. A. Heri Iswanto, SKM, MARS. regarding strategies for developing research ideas into scientific contributions. Through this session, students gained an understanding of the importance of identifying research gaps , developing relevant research directions, and producing scientific works with novel value.

In addition to the material and discussion sessions, the event continued with an introduction to HMPKM for new students and a sharing session with Master's Program Public Health students. The session provided an interactive space to strengthen student relationships, share academic experiences, and build collaborative networks within the postgraduate environment.

Through the 2026 HMPKM Scientific Forum , students of the Public Health Master's Program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UPNVJ, are expected to become academics who excel, are inclusive, collaborative, and possess integrity. This activity also aligns with UPN "Veteran" Jakarta's commitment to strengthening the quality of higher education through research development, innovation, and tangible contributions to society.

The Rector of UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm. , emphasized that strengthening academic and research culture is a crucial part of building an impactful university. Through various scientific forums, UPNVJ continues to encourage students not only to produce research but also to present innovations that can address societal challenges and support sustainable development.
