UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) welcomed a delegation from Thaksin University, Thailand, on an academic visit to the UPNVJ campus in Jakarta on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The meeting served as a follow-up to the two universities' exploration of cooperation, focusing on developing international academic programs, student and faculty mobility, benchmarking, guest lectures, and opportunities for interfaculty collaboration.
This visit follows the meeting between UPNVJ and Thaksin University at Songkhla Campus, Thailand, on September 3, 2026. In the previous meeting, the two universities discussed the development of academic cooperation, including joint teaching, collaborative research, academic mobility, and the possibility of developing joint educational programs.
The Thaksin University delegation consisted of Dr. Pittayatorn Kaewkong, Dean of the International College; Dr. Ye Jin Kim; Dr. Chana Chancham; Dr. Min Liu; and Ms. Paweena Junpradit. The official website of Thaksin University's International College lists Dr. Pittayatorn Kaewkong as Dean.
The delegation was received by the leadership and academic management of UPNVJ, including the Dean of the Faculty of Law (FH), Deputy Dean III of FH, Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), Head of the Master of Law Study Program, Head of the Doctoral Law Study Program, Head of the D3 Banking and Finance Study Program, Head of the D3 Accounting Study Program, and representatives of the UPNVJ Office of International Affairs (KUI).
The meeting began in the Nusantara 1 Meeting Room with a presentation of each university's profile, academic fields, and international programs. The forum then focused on identifying potential joint development programs based on the academic strengths and needs of both institutions.
Discussions covered opportunities for student and faculty mobility, guest lectures, knowledge exchange, benchmarking, and the development of international academic activities at the study program level. The meeting also provided a platform for faculties and study programs to identify areas that could be further pursued through ongoing joint activities.
Faculty of Law Benchmarking
Following the university-level meeting, the delegation continued their benchmarking program at UPNVJ's Faculty of Law. Dr. Ye Jin Kim discussed higher education administration, academic governance, study program development, and opportunities for international legal education collaboration with the Faculty of Law's deans.
The activity allows both institutions to exchange experiences and perspectives on academic practices while identifying areas with potential for development through collaborative programs.
Cooperation in the legal field was one of the areas previously discussed by the two universities. The meeting between UPNVJ and Thaksin University in Thailand in early September also included discussions on law, social sciences, English, and the development of master's and doctoral education.
Thaksin University Academics Deliver Guest Lectures
In addition to benchmarking, the Thaksin University delegation's visit was expanded through guest lecture activities at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) and the Faculty of Law at UPNVJ.
At the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Dr. Min Liu and Dr. Chana Chancham served as guest speakers at a lecture attended by the Head of the International Relations Undergraduate Program and program staff. This event provided a platform for UPNVJ students and academics to gain international perspectives and interact directly with academics from Thailand.
Meanwhile, following the benchmarking program, Dr. Ye Jin Kim delivered a guest lecture at UPNVJ's Faculty of Law. The series expanded the visit's benefits from institutional-level discussions to direct knowledge exchange with students and the academic community.
The visit on September 24th marks a continuation of the partnership between the two universities. In a previous meeting in Thailand, UPNVJ and Thaksin University discussed follow-up to the letter of intent, leading to a framework for collaboration and specific programs that could be implemented by faculties and study programs. Thaksin University also noted that the two institutions signed a letter of intent on November 13, 2025, as the initial foundation for developing an academic partnership.
UPNVJ Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm. previously emphasized that the internationalization of higher education must result in academic activities that provide real benefits to the academic community.
"Internationalization must be realized through academic mobility, joint research, knowledge exchange, and educational programs that produce tangible benefits," said Venus during a series of explorations of UPNVJ's collaboration with Thaksin University.
Through this return visit, UPNVJ encourages continued inter-institutional communication through concrete and sustainable programs. The collaboration with Thaksin University is expected to expand student and faculty access to cross-border academic experiences, enhance knowledge exchange, and strengthen UPNVJ's network within the ASEAN higher education ecosystem.
