UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) and Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (Universitas Geomatika Malaysia) strengthened their international network by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Universiti Geomatika Malaysia on Thursday, September 3, 2026. The agreement opens up opportunities for collaboration in academics, research, innovation, and the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. UPNVJ's Faculty of Medicine (FK) is part of this strengthening institutional relationship, particularly to expand its international education and healthcare network.

The MoU serves as a foundation for the two institutions to develop more focused and sustainable cooperation. Collaboration can be realized through the exchange of academic knowledge and experience, joint research, innovation development, and human resource capacity building.

The meeting was attended by several leaders of Universiti Geomatika Malaysia, namely Prof. Dato' Dr. Hj. Mohamad Nasir Bin Saludin as Head of the Center of Post Graduate Studies (CEPOS), Assoc. Prof. Laila Subra as Dean, Faculty of Bioeconomics & Health Sciences, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hemavathy A/P Surikumaran as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovations and Commercialization).

From UPNVJ, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine also attended a series of activities as part of an effort to strengthen inter-institutional relations while exploring the implementation of collaborations that could provide direct benefits to the academic community.

The involvement of the Faculty of Medicine at UPNVJ is crucial because partnerships with foreign universities can expand the space for faculty and students to interact within the global academic ecosystem. This collaboration also opens up opportunities for the exchange of ideas, competency development, cross-institutional research, and the utilization of research findings and innovations to address issues in education and health.

For universities, international networks serve more than just expanding institutional relationships. Cross-border collaboration is also a tool for improving the quality of learning, strengthening research productivity, opening access to more diverse scientific perspectives, and building human resource capacity capable of adapting to global developments.

The signing of the MoU with Universiti Geomatika Malaysia is therefore intended to serve as a foundation for developing joint programs that can be implemented concretely. Follow-up on the agreement is crucial to ensure that the collaboration extends beyond institutional documentation and develops into academic and research activities that impact both universities.

This partnership also strengthens the Faculty of Medicine at UPNVJ's efforts to build a medical education ecosystem that is increasingly open to international collaboration. The exchange of experiences between institutions is expected to support the development of educational quality, research capacity, innovation, and community service.

Through an MoU with Universiti Geomatika Malaysia, UPNVJ continues its efforts to expand higher education partnerships in Southeast Asia. The implementation of further joint programs is expected to strengthen academic and research quality while also providing relevant scientific contributions to society at the national and international levels.
