UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) has entered the final stages of construction on a new parking lot on the Limo Campus, with physical progress reaching approximately 95 percent. The facility is designed to centralize student vehicles while improving security, safety, and comfort on campus. Construction is being carried out in stages, including land development, fencing and road construction, parking areas, and improvements to vehicle access and pedestrian paths.
The construction of the Limo Campus parking lot is part of UPNVJ's efforts to optimize university assets and land to improve the quality of services, facilities, and infrastructure for the academic community. The area's development has been underway in several stages over approximately three years.
Hugeng Budianto, SE, the UPNVJ Capital Expenditure and Building Commitment Making Officer (PPK), explained that the initial construction phase began with firewood and land clearing. Work then continued with the construction of a perimeter fence, access road, and parking area using concrete blocks.
"The land was tidied up about three years ago. Then, about two years ago, a road and a fence were built for security and to demarcate the land. Last year, the parking area was also paved with concrete blocks," said Hugeng.
Entry Routes Designed to Improve Safety
In addition to preparing the parking area, UPNVJ is improving the relatively uphill access lane. The access is being made straighter to give drivers ample room to maneuver before entering the lower parking area.
Previously, vehicles had to turn onto the lane adjacent to the incline. This was one of the considerations in the access restructuring to reduce the potential for vehicle loss and improve student safety.
"That's why we're improving it. We're making the access straighter to create a gap. So, students who want to park below won't have to turn straight, but instead have to enter a little further forward because the road is slightly uphill," said Hugeng.
The lane improvements were completed before classes resumed. These changes provide vehicles with more space when entering and exiting the parking area.
Canopies and Pedestrian Paths Support Student Comfort
UPNVJ also provides facilities for students walking from the parking area to the lecture halls. One of these facilities is awnings on the pedestrian walkway to provide protection from heat and rain.
"If you park below and it rains, there's an awning so you can walk or wait there. The stairs are also ready," said Hugeng.
With construction progress at approximately 95 percent, the main parking facilities are essentially complete. Remaining work focuses on completing supporting components and final improvements before the facility can be fully utilized.
The new parking lot is projected to become one of the primary parking areas for student vehicles on the Limo Campus. Centralized parking is expected to help reduce traffic congestion around lecture buildings and create a more orderly flow of traffic within the campus.
"That's why we're preparing. We're maximizing the resources and land we have for campus services," said Hugeng.
The technical management of the facility's construction is under the coordination of the UPNVJ Capital Expenditure and Buildings PPK. The mechanism for parking area utilization and management will be further adjusted according to university policy.
