Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) strengthened its internationalization efforts by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, on Tuesday (September 1, 2026). This collaboration serves as a strategic foundation for both universities to develop collaboration in academics, research, scientific publications, and international community service.
The MoU signing was carried out by UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm. and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, Prince of Songkla University, representing PSU. The agreement took place as part of the Indonesia Education Fair and INSPIRE Forum 2026 in Southern Thailand.
The MoU between UPNVJ and PSU is part of an effort to expand the Indonesia-Thailand higher education network through a partnership oriented towards improving academic quality and making real contributions to society.
In this collaboration, both parties agreed to strengthen and develop academic collaboration, research, and community services based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit.
The scope of the agreed cooperation includes various strategic programs, including undergraduate and postgraduate student exchanges, lecturer and staff exchanges, the implementation of short course programs, online and offline guest lectures, the development of new academic programs, the exchange of information and publications, the organization of conferences, seminars, and workshops.
In addition, the two universities also open up opportunities for implementing double degree or joint degree programs, joint research, joint scientific publications, student internship programs, and international community service activities.
UPNVJ Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., stated that strengthening international cooperation is part of the university's strategy to provide higher education with global competitiveness.
According to Venus, the internationalization of higher education is not only oriented towards improving the reputation of the institution, but must also produce real benefits for students, lecturers, researchers, and the community.
"International cooperation must be realized in the form of concrete collaboration. The exchange of knowledge, academic experience, and joint research are essential for achieving broader impact," said Venus.
Through its collaboration with PSU, UPNVJ is also strengthening its role as a National Defense Campus, embodying the values of contribution, care, and dedication in a global context. National Defense values are realized through the development of science, innovation, and cross-border collaboration that benefits society.
Prince of Songkla University is one of Thailand's leading universities, boasting a strong reputation for academics, research, and innovation. PSU is also one of Thailand's national research universities and is ranked among the top 10 universities in Thailand by the QS World University Rankings.
Meanwhile, UPNVJ continues to expand international partnerships with various universities and global institutions as part of its agenda to improve the quality of education. Through the signing of this MoU, UPNVJ affirms its commitment to building higher education collaboration in the Southeast Asia region.
