From Critical Thinking to Growth Mindset, UPNVJ's PROSPECTIVE Encourages the Holistic Development of Student Potential

UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) is holding a Learning Stimulation Program to improve the quality of human resources by strengthening students' character, ethics, collaboration, creativity, and mindset. This program is designed to equip students with the soft skills needed to face the challenges of the workplace while preparing them to become adaptive, innovative, and individuals with integrity.

This program's implementation is motivated by developments in higher education, which increasingly demand a balance between academic knowledge and non-technical skills. Students are expected to possess not only intellectual abilities but also critical thinking, collaboration, ethical decision-making, and creativity in solving various problems.

Through a more interactive and stimulating learning approach, UPNVJ strives to provide a learning experience that is not only oriented towards mastering the material, but also encourages students to participate actively, develop their potential, and internalize positive values in academic and social life.

The Learning Stimulation Program presents seven speakers with diverse scientific backgrounds who discuss important aspects in character formation and student competency development.

Dr. dr. Taufiq Fredrik Pasiak, M.Kes., M.Pd.I., MH, CIPA. presented the material "Character Building Based on Neuroscience" which focuses on character formation through a neuroscience approach. This material provides an understanding of the relationship between how the brain works, behavior, self-control, and positive character development in the learning process.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bambang Saras Yulistiawan, ST, M.Kom., discussed Digital Mindset, which focused on the importance of developing an adaptive mindset to the development of digital technology. Through this material, students are expected to be able to utilize technology wisely, productively, and responsibly to support academic activities and personal competency development.

Strengthening critical thinking skills is a focus in the Critical Thinking material presented by Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Teguh Firmansyah, ST, MT, IPM., ASEAN.Eng. This material is aimed at encouraging students to analyze information objectively, evaluate various points of view, and make decisions based on logical and systematic considerations.

In terms of strengthening moral values, Dr. Muthia Sakti, SH, MH, delivered a presentation on Ethical Thinking, emphasizing the importance of ethical awareness in thinking and decision-making. This understanding equips students to uphold integrity, responsibility, and moral values in their academic and social lives.

Next, Prof. Dr. Acim Heri Iswanto, SKM, MARS., presented on Growth Mindset, emphasizing the importance of developing a growth mindset. Through this approach, students are encouraged to view challenges as learning opportunities, be open to feedback, and be motivated to continuously improve their skills and qualities.

The aspects of creativity, entrepreneurship, and collaboration were also strengthened through the Creativity, Entrepreneurship, and Collaboration material presented by Prof. Dr. Amrie Firmansyah, MM, M.Ak., ME. The material integrates the ability to generate innovative ideas, develop an entrepreneurial mindset, and build effective collaboration in facing various challenges.

Completing the series of materials, Pribadi Sutiono, SS, MA, Ph.D., presented Achievement Motivation, which focused on strengthening students' motivation to achieve. This material is expected to encourage students to set clear goals, increase self-confidence, and build consistency in achieving both academic and non-academic success.

Building Excellent, Character-Based, and Adaptive Students

The seven topics presented in the Learning Stimulation Program are designed to complement each other to develop students' comprehensive competencies. Character development through a neuroscience approach, critical and ethical thinking skills, mastery of digital mindsets, creativity, collaboration, and achievement motivation are essential foundations for developing graduates who are ready to face changing times.

This program is also part of UPNVJ's commitment to presenting an educational process that not only focuses on academic achievement, but also pays attention to the formation of personality, social skills, and the ability to adapt to the dynamics of the professional environment.

Through the integration of these various aspects, students are expected to be more active in learning activities, able to express ideas constructively, respect differences in views, and build productive collaboration.

Furthermore, strengthening ethical values and integrity is a crucial part of developing students with an awareness of personal and social responsibility. These competencies are expected to be applied not only during their studies at university, but also when students enter the workforce and contribute to society.

Through the Learning Stimulation Program, UPNVJ continues to strive to create an educational environment that supports the optimal development of student potential. This step also reinforces the university's commitment to producing graduates who are intellectually superior, possess strong character, are ethical, creative, and collaborative, and able to make positive contributions to society and national development.
