UPNVJ Conducts Field Assessment to Open Pharmacy Professional Study Program

UPNVJ Public Relations - Veterans National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) is conducting a field assessment for the proposed opening of a Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program (PSPPA) at the Faculty of Medicine (FK). This activity is a strategic step to meet the need for professional, innovative, and competitive human resources (HR) in the healthcare sector, while also supporting the latest policies in the 2023 Health Law.

The Pharmacy Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Nusa Tenggara Barat (UPNVJ), established in 2018 and beginning admission in 2019, has shown rapid growth. In 2023, the program received "Very Good" accreditation from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Health Higher Education (LAM-PTKes). Currently, the program implements an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum in accordance with the standards of the Indonesian Pharmaceutical Higher Education Association (APTFI). As of September 2025, the program had produced 122 graduates and had 222 active students. For the past three years, the program has consistently ranked among the top 10 academic programs with the most rigorous selection criteria in the National Achievement-Based Selection (SNBP).

The establishment of the PSPPA at UPNVJ is a response to the need for professional pharmacists as mandated by the 2023 Health Law, which stipulates that healthcare human resources in the pharmaceutical field can only be filled by graduates of the pharmacist profession or pharmacy vocation (D3). To support this proposal, UPNVJ has established an Educational Pharmacy that meets the minimum standards of APTFI. "The establishment of this study program is not only to increase the number of study programs, but also demonstrates our commitment to addressing the challenges and needs of society," said UPNVJ Rector, Prof. Anter Venus, in his remarks.

The field assessment was attended directly by the Chancellor of UPNVJ along with the university's leadership. The assessor team in attendance consisted of Prof. Dr. apt. Tiana Milanda, M.Si. (Padjadjaran University), Prof. Dr. apt. Yufri Aldi, M.Si. (Andalas University), Henriette Minerva Wenno, SH, Lingga Kresna Adiputra, S.Kom., and Abdul Rosid, S.Kom. from the Directorate of Institutions of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

The vision of PSPPA UPNVJ is to become a superior, innovative, and collaborative study program with a national defense identity through a Matra Pharmacy approach to support the optimization of preventive medicine. Prof. Venus hopes this assessment runs smoothly and produces the best results. "We hope this assessment will motivate us to continue improving the quality of higher education, producing graduates with national defense character, global competitiveness, and a real contribution to the nation," she said.
UPNVJ expressed its appreciation to the assessment team for their constructive input to improve the quality of the study program. With this assessment, UPNVJ is optimistic about soon opening the PSPPA to support national health development.
