UPNVJ Sends Logistical Aid and Volunteer Teams to Respond to Sumatran Disasters

UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta dispatched a shipment of logistical aid and deployed a Disaster Awareness Team consisting of five personnel to assist disaster victims in Aceh Province. The logistics were delivered via Hercules aircraft on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 4:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), with the coordination point for receiving them at Syiah Kuala University in Banda Aceh.

In her remarks at the farewell ceremony held at the UPN Veteran Jakarta Campus, Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, SpKJ., MH. , expressed her deep condolences and a spirit of solidarity. “We are concerned and saddened by the tragedy that befell our brothers and sisters in Aceh. Please remain steadfast in facing this difficult test. The aid we send may not be able to replace what has been lost, but whatever the extended family of UPN Veteran Jakarta is doing now is solely out of love and concern for our brothers and sisters there,” she said.

Furthermore, Vice Rector III emphasized that in addition to logistical assistance, UPNVJ is also sending volunteers ready to work directly in the field. "The Disaster Aid Team we are sending will not only bring donations, but also healthcare workers, join the public kitchen, and there will be a team that will integrate directly with the affected community. Until December 10, 2025, we are still open to donations from the academic community and the wider community. UPNVJ continues to coordinate with the Syiah Kuala University Disaster Task Force to ensure that the assistance provided is on target and sustainable," he added.

The five-person UPNVJ Disaster Response Team, led by Field Coordinator M. Ikhsan Amar, M.Kes., will join the task force in the field to provide health services, psychosocial support, and assist with the operation of the public kitchen.

The send-off ceremony was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Desmawati, PhD., the Head of the Planning, Finance, and General Affairs Bureau, Dr. Ahmad Ahsin Thohari, the Head of the Quality Assurance and Learning Development Institute, Satria Yudhia W., MS. Ak, and volunteers. Vice Rector 3 also expressed his gratitude to all parties who have contributed. "Thank you to LPPM, donors, and the entire academic community who have acted quickly. Our concern today is proof that UPN Veteran Jakarta will continue to fight alongside our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster," he concluded.

The delivery of aid and volunteers demonstrates UPN Veteran Jakarta's empathy and social responsibility as a national defense campus, supporting the recovery of the Acehnese community after the disaster. Donations can still be made through UPNVJ's official account until December 10, 2025.
