Harry from the Wales Young Institute in this meeting explained briefly about the Wales Young Institute which is a category 1 school in Canada.
Haris said, this collaboration started with Indonesian children who wanted to get an education with international standards.
“This is the desire of Indonesian children to develop their education. And we want to help Indonesian children with a middle to lower middle class economy to get access to be able to go to school in Canada," said Harry.
"The Wales Young Institute provides flexibility for all Indonesian children to be able to go to school while working. So we will later give working visas to Indonesian children in several stages," he added.
Harry said “We really support Indonesian children to be able to study in Canada, for work we give Indonesian children the freedom to want to work anywhere. With the aim that after children graduate from school, our students get a good position at work or get a promotion where they work, this is a Wales Young Institute program with a period of 1 year of school 1 year of work, "explained Harry.
While they work the Wales Young Institute assists children with securing job placements.
"With this, Indonesian children have the opportunity to work together with the people in Canada, this is a priority program at the Wales Young Institute where we concentrate more on practice. We always recruit professionals to teach our children, said Harry.
Not only UPNVJ, the Wales Young Institute is also collaborating with several PTNs in Indonesia to support this program.
"We want to provide education to partner schools in Indonesia to provide information, that we can open access to study in Canada and provide flexibility in work for Indonesian children," said Harry.
This was done with the aim that Indonesian children could go to the Wales Young Institute without bringing extra costs. Especially in the current situation of Covid 19 and what the Wales Young Institute can offer is to provide English learning at a low cost, so that if there are UPNVJ students who want to go to Canada they don't need to study English again, because the Wales Young Institute will provide professional staff.
In the midst of the discussion Tuti Irman also added "UPNVJ can take advantage of this opportunity to open a different program, not only studying abroad with adjustable fees and also adding experience at work".
"This is the same as the concept of Freedom to Learn which was echoed by the Minister of Education and Culture where schools are not only in schools. Little by little Indonesia's opportunities are opened with this program. UPNVJ can do this program to attract students' interest according to their study program," added Tuti.
The meeting, which was attended by the Deans, Heads of Study Programs, Heads of UPTs and Heads of Institutions, was a two-way meeting by discussing in depth how to finance from start to finish and the stages as well as other discussions regarding the Wales Young Institute's program regarding school while working which they focused on.
