HumasUPNVJ - Abang & Mpok Depok are Searching for Tourism Ambassadors under the auspices of the Department of Youth, Sports, Tourism, Arts & Culture for the City of Depok. Abang & Mpok Depok have an important role as the front guard for the promotion and introduction of Tourism, as well as being an extension of the City Government of Depok, to instill values and socialize regarding Activities, policies and utilization of City infrastructure. The election for Abang Mpok Depok has been held since 2002, and since then it has faithfully accompanied the city of Depok to grow and develop. The proud news is that at this year's event (28/08/2021) Muhammad Ariel Azfar Hadi and Silika Khowashi were appointed as Brothers and Mpok Depok 2021, which Muhammad Ariel Azfar Hadi knows is a student of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UPN Veterans Jakarta class of 2020.
In his written interview with the Public Relations team, Ariel talked a lot about his experience in participating in this prestigious event, "The reason I want to take part in this event is because I feel that as a young person from Depok City I want to actively contribute to the development of Depok City in various fields. Apart from that, I also have an interest and experience in various youth activities, one of which is as a Peer Educator Young Health Program where one of its activities is campaigning for the importance of a Child Friendly City which I will continue to promote in Depok City," said Ariel.
"Events are held both online and offline . Stage one auditions, second stage auditions, and debriefing for approximately two months were held online via a zoom meeting , but the main event was held offline at the Santika Hotel. Apart from that, we also held photoshoots , dirty rehearsals and dress rehearsals at the Depok City Hall," he explained
“I have no special preparation to take part in this election. But as the youngest brother, I have my own motivation to continue to progress and develop every day. This started from small things, such as finding out more about history, culture, tourism and government in the city of Depok and continuing to follow developments in the city of Depok every day through my social media. In the process of this activity, of course, it is accompanied by ups and downs, the joy is that I get wider relationships with other people who have different backgrounds, I get very meaningful learning not only about Depok city tourism but also about self-development, branding, time management and so on. I also got a very valuable experience and I'm sure my experience will be very influential for my life going forward. The grief is that I have to sacrifice my time both with family, friends and playmates to focus on this election activity which lasts for approximately two months and is carried out almost every day," Ariel told the PR team in detail .
The election for Abang Mpok City of Depok came from various regions but was not required to have a Depok KTP. The participants at the beginning of the election numbered in the hundreds and continued to decrease in the first and second audition stages, until 15 finalists and 15 members were selected in the final stage.
Ariel hopes that all UPNVJ students will not be afraid to always try new things and give their best at every opportunity.
