HumasUPNVJ - As an effort to improve the competence of researchers in writing research protocols according to good health research protocol standards in social and biological research UPN Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) through the Health Research Ethics Commission (KEPK) held a webinar with the theme Research Subjects and Researchers According to Research Ethical Principles, on Saturday (23/10/21).

"A research with good human and experimental animal subjects must have Ethical Clearance before the research is carried out and with this webinar it can assist students in preparing their thesis, theses and dissertations, as well as one of the requirements for research results to be published internationally and this is part of the regulations of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology," said Prof. Dr. dr. M. Guritno Suryokusumo, SMHS, DEA. Chairman of KEPK UPNVJ in his speech.

On this occasion, the Chancellor of UPNVJ, Dr. Erna Hernawati, Ak, CPMA, CA said that conducting research is one of the tasks of higher education, with higher education research will provide benefits to the community by producing the development of science and can provide solutions to problems that exist in society.

“One area that never stops developing is the health sector. Research in the health sector is closely related to the involvement of research subjects using both human and animal subjects," said Erna.

dr.Eunice Pingkan Najoan, Sp.Kj, MM as the main informant emphasized that every living creature has the right to security and comfort when being the subject of a research.

In social research with regard to society or paying attention to the public interest, even though the intervention carried out in the research does not have a risk that can harm or harm the respondent.

"Researchers need to consider socio-ethical aspects and uphold human dignity, so that they can fortify humans from violating applicable discipline or rules and raise awareness in humans about the meaning of their actions and the consequences and consequences of what they have done," said Dr. Eunice.

In addition, drh. Mamak Zudi, M.Sc. also discusses research using experimental animals that must comply with the principles of 3 R ( Replacement, Reduction, Refinement ) and 5 F (Freedom from hunger and thirst, Freedom from discomfort, Freedom from pain, injury and disease, Freedom to express normal behavior and Freedom from fear and distress ).

The use of animals sometimes still needs to be done because it does not yet exist or it is not yet possible to use or test on humans and animals have similar anatomy, physiology, immune system to humans. In this research, it is necessary to pay attention to the treatment of animals in order to avoid the risk of animal inequality.

In line with this, Fahmi Fu'adi also said that the researchers who entered their research protocols on the KEPK website had no difficulty paying attention to the documents that had to be uploaded in the system and the EC could come out immediately.

As a follow-up, it is hoped that researchers who submit ethical clearance are able to make research protocols that are good and correct according to standards and can produce research results that can be accounted for by ethical rules to obtain ethical clearance which is the responsibility of the researchers themselves.
