HumasUPNVJ - Jakarta Veterans National Development University is happy again, because Dr. dr. Yanto Sandy Tjang, Sp.BTKV, MPH, M.Sc, D.Sc, Ph.D, FICS, FETCS once again made his contribution to the world of medical education. No kidding, this time his achievement was becoming a member ( fellow ) of an international organization based in America, namely The American College of Cardiology (ACC). This institution is based in Washington, United States of America and is a non-profit association engaged in the field of medicine that was founded in 1949. The American College of Cardiology (ACC) is very selective in awarding certificates to qualified cardiologist specialists through super strict considerations. This was conveyed by Dr. Yanto in his short interview with UPNVJ Public Relations.

“To become a member of this organization requires a very rigorous assessment, which is usually based on educational background qualifications as well as significant contributions, both professionally in the cardiovascular field (heart and blood vessel disease) and in the field of research. So we are lucky enough that UPN Veteran Jakarta already has elements that are part of the college," he concluded

Apart from officially becoming an ACC fellow , in 2020 it seems he has also obtained a similar achievement that is no less prestigious, namely becoming a fellow of the American College of Surgeons . The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is an association in the field of scientific and surgical education founded in 1913 to improve the quality of surgical patient care by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.

For information, Dr. Yanto earned his specialist degree in cardiovascular thoracic surgery after completing his education at Bochum Ruhr Universitat, Germany. He is a member of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) and is currently active as a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at the Jakarta Veterans National Development University. In academic terms, his work is also quite successful. No less than fifteen of his scientific works have been published in Scopus indexed international journals.

In closing, he conveyed his message to all teaching staff at UPNVJ to continue to be enthusiastic in achieving future achievements.

"I think lecturers really have to start thinking about doing research for new things so that they can provide added value to society. In addition, if you are still a beginner, you must work collaboratively by involving other people who are experienced in the topic you are researching. So lecturers must be brave, must be willing to sacrifice time, energy and thoughts as well as work quickly and seriously, UPN DEFINITELY CAN DO IT!”, he concluded.
