Indonesian United Siliwangi Fighters Visit UPNVJ to Discuss the Potential for Cooperation in the Actualization of National Defense

Public Relations UPNVJ – In an effort to strengthen bilateral relations between UPN "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) and Indonesian community organizations, especially the Jakarta area, UPNVJ received a visit from the Central Leadership Council of United Indonesian Siliwangi Fighters (DPP PSIB).

PSIB is known as a fighting organization, a social organization that is independent, independent, open, has a national scope and is not affiliated with any political party organization.

The discussion held in the Nusantara I UPNVJ Meeting Room was aimed at discussing the state defense program at UPNVJ which is currently ongoing and the potential for future cooperation in the state defense program within UPNVJ.

From UPNVJ in attendance was of course the Chancellor, Dr. Anter Venys, MA., Comm, accompanied by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Ria Maria Theresea, SpKJ, MH., along with her staff and also the Head of the National Defense Center, Dr. Ridwan, S.Sos., M.Si.

The prospective partners presented the Daily Chair of the United Indonesian Siliwangi Fighters (PSIB), Marsda (Ret.) Asep Chaerudin, MASS, Deputy General Chair for National Defense, Ir. Djoni Mudorijanto, and Deputy Chair of IWAPSI, Regina Andriane Saputri.

The meeting opened with a warm welcome from the Chancellor of UPNVJ who underlined the vision to become a center for thinking and practicing the values of defending the country. This is also driven by the identity factor of the National Defense Campus which is strongly attached to UPNVJ.

“… At UPNVJ the values that are instilled are the values of defending the country. This value has become the breath of life for us." Venus said explaining to the PSIB DPP group.

Venus also explained that activities with national defense values intended for lecturers, students and staff tend to focus on non-military activities. According to him, the "war" carried out in modern times is war using the mind. Therefore, UPNVJ encourages its people to improve the quality of their reasoning by using scientific data.

This idea is in line with the thoughts of PSBI conveyed by Asep Chaerudin. PSBI believes that national defense activities are not always about the military, especially if they are carried out in universities. Defending the country is about believing that we have duties, obligations and responsibilities in maintaining the integrity of the nation and state.

"In fact, the value of defending this country is how our souls are responsible and feel that we all have a responsibility to save this nation and state." Asep concluded.

In reality, there are still several state defense activities in UPNVJ that are related to militarists such as Menwa, Komcad, and Dikwal. This militarist activity was intended to foster discipline.

This meeting is a concrete example of the commitment of both parties to increase and strengthen the actualization of national defense. UPNVJ certainly hopes that this initial meeting will result in a follow-up meeting to discuss the implementation of cooperation between the two parties.
