Jakarta — In order to commemorate Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijriah, the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) held a sacrificial animal slaughtering activity on campus on Friday, June 6, 2025.
This activity is an annual agenda that reflects the practice of religious values, social awareness, and the spirit of defending the country in a framework of togetherness. The slaughtering was carried out in the backyard of the UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus, South Jakarta, and was attended by all academicians, from lecturers, education staff, students, to local residents.
This year, UPNVJ managed to collect three cows and six goats as sacrificial animals, which were donations from lecturers, staff, and campus partners. All animals have undergone a health check by the animal medical team to ensure their eligibility and health before being slaughtered.
UPNVJ Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, in his speech said that the qurban activity is not only an annual worship, but also a real form of gratitude and concern for others.
"Qurban is a symbol of solidarity and sacrifice. Through this activity, UPNVJ wants to continue to instill the values of humanity, togetherness, and devotion to the community," said Prof. Venus.
The sacrificial meat was distributed to the community around the campus, cleaners, security officers, and residents in need. Distribution was carried out using a coupon system so that the distribution was orderly and even.
The Head of the 2025 UPNVJ Qurban Committee, Suprima, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I., MH, stated that the entire slaughtering process was carried out in accordance with Islamic law, and paid attention to cleanliness and safety standards.
"Alhamdulillah, the entire series of activities went smoothly. We are grateful for the participation of all parties who have made this activity a success," he said.
Through this activity, UPNVJ hopes that the spirit of togetherness and social concern can continue to grow and take root among the academic community and the surrounding community.
