UPNVJ Public Relations - The National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) launched a Child Growth and Development Laboratory and Lactation Room entitled “Day Care Bela Negara” at the UPNVJ Limo Campus, Depok.
This initiative is a manifestation of the implementation of the spirit of defending the country through efforts to ensure the quality growth and development of children, especially for the children of the UPNVJ academic community and the surrounding community.
The opening of the Bela Negara Day Care was inspired by the child development and nutrition consultation labs already running at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UPNVJ. This lab is designed to support the harmony between work and childcare, especially for teaching and education staff with children aged 0–6.
"From the child growth and development practicum and nutrition consultation at FIKES, we were inspired to open the National Defense Day Care, in line with UPNVJ's identity as a National Defense Campus," said Prof. Dr. Ir. Netty Herawati, UPNVJ's Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, and General Affairs, when met on Friday (29/8/2025).
Bela Negara Day Care not only provides care, but also educational services for children from infants to preschoolers, nutritional consultations, and age-appropriate educational stimulation.
"We offer comprehensive services to fulfill children's rights, including breastfeeding, care by skilled educators, and nutrition developed in collaboration with the Nutrition Study Program," explained Prof. Netty.
In addition, daycare participants will receive health services, such as nutritional status assessments, growth and development clinics, and free consultations for parents regarding child nutrition and development.
“We want to ensure holistic services for children and parents,” he added.
Prof. Netty explained that the National Defense Day Care will officially operate in early September 2025. However, starting August 30, 2025, registration has been opened for children of UPNVJ employees.
"We're starting with a soft launch and limited capacity for academics. Once capacity allows, registration will be opened to the general public," he said.
UPNVJ hopes that the National Defense Day Care and lactation room will become campus strengths, as well as learning and research facilities with parental permission.
"We want day care participants to receive optimal education and nutrition, while also supporting research for the advancement of science," said Prof. Netty.
This initiative affirms UPNVJ's commitment to supporting the growth and development of the younger generation as part of the spirit of national defense. With an integrated approach between education, health, and parenting, UPNVJ continues to strengthen its role as an institution concerned with community welfare.
