BIEMA 8th 2025: Exploring Digital Transformation in the Banking and Business Sectors

Public Relations of UPNVJ – In an effort to respond to the rapid development of digital technology in the world of economics, the Faculty of Economics and Business of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) held the 8th BIEMA national seminar on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The seminar themed “Digital Transformation: Banking, Business Valuation, and Governance” is an important forum for academics and practitioners to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the era of digitalization of the financial sector.

The hybrid seminar was attended by approximately 200 participants from various institutions, including UPNVJ, the State Finance Polytechnic of STAN (PKN STAN), the University of Bengkulu, the Asian Cyber University, the Bogor Agricultural Institute, Brawijaya University, Muhammadiyah University of Bone, Padang State Polytechnic, Harapan University of Medan, Sebelas Maret University, and Satu University. Ninety-three of those in attendance also participated in the Call for Papers session, with selected articles having the opportunity to be published in BIEMA's 8th partner journal.

This event presented the main speaker, Bayu Dwi Kariastanto, Ph.D., Head of the Financial System Stability Directorate of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), as well as two other speakers, namely Ir. Budi Prasodjo, M.Ec.Dev., MAPPI (Cert.), Chairman of the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI), and Prof. Erna Hernawati, Ak., CPMA., CA., CGOP, Professor of FEB UPNVJ. The discussion was moderated by Kevin Naufal Widyadhanam, SM, MMT, lecturer at FEB UPNVJ.

The Executive Chair of BIEMA 8 in 2025, Rahmasari Fahria, SE, MM, Ak., stated that the seminar theme was chosen to address the rapid development of digital technology that has impacted the banking sector, business valuation, and governance. "This theme was chosen considering the rapid digital transformation in the financial sector, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UPNVJ, Dr. Jubaedah, SE, MM, emphasized the relevance of the seminar's theme, which integrates three main pillars: banking, business valuation, and governance. "Digitalization has presented both opportunities and challenges. Big data , artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain demand new methodologies for measuring company value, assets, and business prospects," she said.

He also highlighted the importance of strong digital governance to ensure transparency, accountability, and business sustainability amidst technological innovation. "As an educational institution, UPNVJ has an obligation to provide a deeper understanding of digital transformation to all students, the nation's future leaders," he added.

This seminar not only served as a platform for sharing knowledge but also strengthened UPNVJ's position as an educational institution responsive to current developments. Through BIEMA 8 in 2025, UPNVJ affirmed its dedication to supporting innovation and sustainability in the economic and business sectors.
