UPNVJ Participates in the 2025 National Population Symposium in Padang

UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) participated in the 2025 National Population Symposium held at Padang State University, West Sumatra, on Thursday (September 11, 2025). UPNVJ's participation in this activity was represented by the presence of Dr. Kusumajanti, S.Sos., M.Si., Head of the Academic Support Unit (UPA) for Competency Testing Services.

Themed "Building a Quality Population, Resilient Families, and an Inclusive Economy for a Progressive Indonesia," the symposium involved 100 state universities as well as relevant ministries and institutions.

The Minister of Population and Family Development/Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Wihaji, S.Ag., M.Pd., who was also present at the event, emphasized the importance of students and families in capitalizing on the demographic dividend. He emphasized that strengthening families through the active role of fathers is key to success.

The symposium featured three plenary sessions discussing strategic issues, such as population growth control, workforce transformation, and the challenges of inequality and urbanization. The Deputy for Population Control at the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), Dr. (HC) Dr. H. Bonivasius Prasetya, M.Sc., highlighted the phenomenon of young couples choosing to remain childless due to economic factors, mental readiness, and the cost of parenting. "We encourage community empowerment through access to education, health care, and adaptive family planning programs," he said.

UPNVJ's presence at this symposium reflects its commitment as a National Defense Campus that actively contributes academic ideas to the nation's progress. UPNVJ is optimistic that this cross-sector collaboration can support the wise management of population dynamics to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.
