UPNVJ Public Relations – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ) Jakarta (UPNVJ) today held the 2025 International Community Service Seminar (Senabdimas). The online event, held via Zoom, brought together academics from Indonesia and abroad to share research findings, address community service challenges, and adopt best practices in community engagement. Collaborations with the University of Lampung, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Siliwangi University, and the University of Dili enriched the discussion through diverse perspectives while strengthening networks between educational institutions.
UPNVJ's Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Henry Binsar, stated that this activity brought significant benefits, particularly in terms of community service. The Head of UPNVJ's Research and Development Institute (LPPM), Dr. Sri Lestari, reported that the event was attended by more than 40 participants, not only from Indonesia but also from other countries.
The conference, themed "Strengthening Society's Resilience Through the Roles of Impactful Universities," emphasized the role of universities in applying knowledge, technology, and art to build community resilience for sustainable development. Keynote speaker Prof. Aini Aman from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia discussed the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises for 45 minutes. Lia Toriana from Tanoto Foundation shared her experience of community engagement programs in Indonesia for 20 minutes, while Prof. Dr. dr. Basuki Supartono from UPNVJ discussed disaster management expertise and community service for 20 minutes.
The objectives of Senabdimas include facilitating the publication of community service activities by UPNVJ lecturers and students and partners, building global collaborations, and strengthening academic networks for future initiatives. The event builds on the success of previous conferences involving participants from across Indonesia, affirming UPNVJ's commitment to impactful community service.
Through the 2025 International Student Council (Senabdimas), UPNVJ affirms the university as an agent of change, like David facing Goliath in social challenges. This activity is both timely and relevant for readers concerned with community resilience and sustainable development.
