United Against TB: UPNVJ International Webinar Builds Anti-Stigma Community Solidarity

UPNVJ Public Relations - The Nursing Diploma Program Student Association of the Veterans National Development University (UPNVJ) held the 2025 International Webinar with the theme "United Against TB: Caring Together for a Healthier World." The online event, held via Zoom Meeting, took place on November 8, 2025, and was attended by 160 participants, including students from various universities, including UPNVJ Nursing Diploma students.

This webinar discusses global efforts to prevent tuberculosis (TB), control the disease, and eliminate the stigma that remains a health challenge in many countries.

Agustyawan, Vice Dean for Cooperation and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UPNVJ, stated that the event served as a platform for knowledge sharing. "This webinar encourages community solidarity to accelerate recovery and control TB," he said. The event, which attracted wide participation, was led by Siti Aisyah Azzahra, Chair of the Executive Committee, and also Chair of the Nursing Diploma 3 Student Association (HIMADIKA).

The series began with participant registration via Zoom and a presentation of the FIKES profile. Two main sessions offered in-depth presentations. The first session, "Breaking the Stigma, Building Solidarity in Communities Against TB," emphasized the role of the community in eliminating stigma against TB sufferers. This material builds community solidarity and increases social support to prevent further transmission.

The second session, "Understanding and Preventing TB: From Early Recognition to Successful Treatment," provided a comprehensive overview of TB. The discussion covered early detection, risk factors, prevention strategies, and effective treatment to achieve a full recovery. Keynote speaker Dr. Nor Hafeeda Binti Rosdan, PhD, presented the main theme, "United Against TB: Caring Together for a Healthier World." The event continued with an interactive discussion and Q&A session.

This webinar raises global awareness of TB, an infectious disease that requires collective action. HIMADIKA's initiative supports the World Health Organization's (WHO) target of eliminating TB by 2030. Participants gain practical insights to apply in their communities.
